Bedford Smart Technology™ Large Recharge Station

Posted: 27 Aug 2011 09:23 AM PDT

Technology is very useful and it does make our lives a lot easier. However, it comes with a cost, I mean nothing is perfect and you must also accept the less pleasant things about it. In this case you have a lot of gadgets that work on electricity or that must be recharged to a plug. So when you come home in the evening together with all the family members, you will have a lot of cords and charging stations spread all over the desk. You don’t even need to have a large family: if you have a smart phone, a tablet, a laptop and you also want to charge the batteries for your camera then you will see plenty of cords and wires all over the place. And this does not look very well, believe me.

In this case you might want to use this beautiful Bedford Smart Technology™ Large Recharge Station that is made of wood and is both very useful and good-looking. It comes in white, black or brown and it looks classy and stylish even if you use it for recharging up to six technological appliances at a time. You can’t see the cords thanks to the four holes that allow them to go at the back where they plug in. You can use different adapters depending on your needs. The station also has a nice drawer where you can store different things. And all this for this week’s special price of $64 at Pottery Barn.

The entire place is functional, the black and white combination ensuring an elegant simple mood that makes you feel at ease. The yellow wall is the splash of color that draws the attention and matches perfectly with the shades of brown of the furniture in the kitchen; in fact, every room has a personal touch, which contributes to a generally pleasant atmosphere.

A Bright and Lively 90 m² Apartment

Posted: 27 Aug 2011 12:23 AM PDT

It is difficult to renovate a place, especially when the object of your work is an old building. However, when you know exactly what you want and you have good designers to share your plans with, everything goes by the book. It is the same story with a 90 m 2 floor that Dunia Garriga and Mario Calavera transformed into a house full of light that definitely impresses anyone.

The success was ensured by the addition of intelligent furniture pieces and the creation of passing areas. For example, the salon and the living are visually separated, but perfectly integrated; they provide a wide-bright space, thanks to the clarity given by the two existing balconies. Situated in an old building, the 90 m 2 house gained amplitude and an optimization of the space, perfectly fulfilling the main objectives.

The new distribution includes everything you might dream of, when you think about a house: desk, salon-living, main bedroom and bathroom. The irregularity of the house gives the triangular shape of the kitchen; the furniture is perfect for this environment, the wooden pavement, the sliding doors and the wardrobes prove an intelligent manner of gaining as much space as possible.

The entire atmosphere is animated by the use of color, the various shades of daring red providing a unique mood, adding originality and personality to the whole space. Everything seems to belong to the pages of a magazine, a model of how to have a bright space, a colorful and lively home at the same time!{found on micasarevista}

Unique five-level home in Turkey

Posted: 26 Aug 2011 10:01 PM PDT

When you think of a five-level home you don’t usually picture a house made of nine separate pieces of property with a cave-like design. It’s definitely a unique property and it’s the home of American photographer Laura Prusoff and her partner Nurettin Mantar, a Turkish photographer. The two share in common the same passion and they also had a similar vision of what they wanted their home to look like.They definitely wanted something special and unique and that’s exactly what they got.

They first bough a piece of property in Cappadocia, a region in central Turkey, back in 1997. They bought a small dwelling carved into the volcanic rock of the hillside for about $5000 to $6000. They then felt the need to expand their property and did that cave by cave, until they managed to gather nine different pieces and a total of 14.000 square feet of property.

As the owners declared, many of these were absolute ruins. For example, the kitchen had no roof and the walls were falling in.They renovated some of them but some are still a work in progress.

Now the couple has a four-bedroom, five-bathroom sanctuary just for themselves. The renovation process was not easy and cost them around $150.000. they also have a small courtyard and a beautiful fountain surrounded by flowers and vegetation. The interior of their unusual home is colorful and very warm and welcoming. It has wooden cabinets and terra-cotta tile floor, tribal-style carpets and a lot of other interesting details. The couple also plans on developing a bed-and-breakfast inside their property.{found on nytimes}

An Innovative Multifunctional Table by Ruth Vatcher

Posted: 26 Aug 2011 03:48 PM PDT

“Eat Play Grow” promotes a new concept, not only a product, a practical table. This concept is the work of a young UK designer named Ruth Vatcher and the aim was that of promoting a different lifestyle, a healthy one and, at the same time, of encouraging children to grow and take care of their own herbs or vegetables and even prepares their food.

As the name suggests it, the multifunctional table Eat Play Grow provides everything you might think of in terms of such a piece of furniture. When you see it, you say it is simple, but then you realize it is a highly imaginative oak-wood design, with various functions: a herb tray, a chopping board for food preparation, a ceramic pot and a storage system for tools and toys.

This kind of table can be placed somewhere inside, either in the kitchen or in the bedroom; it is simple and subtle and it definitely integrates a healthy lifestyle. What can be better for a child’s life from a young age? The mixture of simplicity and innovation is perfect in a world in which we try so hard to find the things that are necessary for our homes, simple, practical and pleasant objects that help us improve our lives. Eat Play Grow table seems to be the perfect combination of all these essential elements.

Modern penthouse apartment in downtown Vancouver by Robert Bailey

Posted: 26 Aug 2011 02:18 PM PDT

This beautiful apartment is located in downtown Vancouver, Canada and the interior design was created by Robert Bailey. You can instantly see how comfortable and relaxing this place is. The designer had previously worked with the owners on other projects in West Vancouver and in London and he already knew what the couple wanted to achieve in their new home.

The idea was to create a comfortably luxurious and visually quiet home, where the couple could relax and enjoy spending some time together, as well as with friends.

The process of designing this place was realized in two phases, First, the basics were created, after which everything started to take shape and at the end of the second phase the apartment was handed over to the new owners. The apartment is a 6.400sq feet penthouse on two levels. It occupies the 47th and th 48th floor, as well as the 49th roof deck and it's located in the Fairmont Building in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

In order to create the warm and calm look that you see in the pictures, the designer had to use warm and neutral materials and colors, wide plank bleached oak flooring, walnut doors and millwork, taupe stone and marble. The apartment was designed in a way that would make the couple feel comfortable and cozy during their day to day life, but it can also be used to entertain large groups of people.{found on contemporist and pics from Josh Dunford}
