Van Amburgh Stackable Stool by Sam Johnson

Once upon a time, in the Victorian time to be more precise, there was a world-famous lion tamer who traveled all over Europe to show his skills to the people around. His name was Isaac van Amburg and he is the source of inspiration for this stool. I mean he was the one the designer thought about when he created it. And I think I know why: it looks just like the stool they use at the circus when they want to show the audience some tamed animals or some stunt: the round or pentagonal or even heptagonal base stool with some  irregularities on the sides, something resembling triangles.

Since Van Amburgh Stool is big enough you can use it as a stool and even as a side table. You can place it in the living room and on the terrace, too and even in the garden because it is made of rotation-moulded polypreopylene, so it is pretty resistant and weather-proof. Designed by Sam Johnson, this stool can be easily stacked – one on top of each other for saving space. It is available now for 79 pounds.

Duck Brush by Iris Hantverk

Creative minds see the world in a different way: if you see a brush that you use to wash your toes and fingers, they see a duck that quacks and swims happy on the water in your bathtub. Don’t laugh! It’s true. Normally when you want a bath brush that is what you expect to see. But when I saw this amazing Duck brush I was first stunned, then I started smiling and I thought I should buy it. Once it gets your attention, you will certainly want it and that is the point.

The designer, Iris Hantverk showed us her vision so instead of having a totally boring wooden brush you have now a duck on your brush or a brush with a duck-shaped handle or something similar. The brush is made of a wooden disc that is actually the support for the horse hair in the brush. Then the disc is also the support for the wooden duck – the small decoration that can serve as a handle , too. I find it funny and interesting and you can purchase it now for $19.95.

Details Make the Difference

Every man has his own personality, but also every house has its own personality. If for a person it is very clear, the personality of a house is given by the details. According to the style, a house can be modern, urban, classic, but the decorative objects give its style, character and uniqueness.

These objects that are smaller or larger can be photos, pieces of furniture, art objects. They may seem insignificant, but in fact, they are the elements that make  life comfortable for all of us, they make the difference in an apartment or a house. Details represent the beautiful part of a home, providing information about the personality of the owner, his taste, giving color and animating what is ordinary, common, normal.

The room in the picture would not say anything without the paintings on the wall, the vase with colorful flowers on the table or the colorful pillows on the couch and these are only a few details. A fireplace can distinguish a room or a certain shape of coffee table, a carpet and the pillar of a room would be an appropriate curtain.

The kitchen is not very modern, but the blue drawers, the blue the window blind, the flowers on the table and the plants on the windowsill give life to the entire space.  The flowers on the wall that have the same shade with the carpet, the elegant curtain and the colorful flowers around animate the whiteness of the bedroom. Luxurious DIY Leather Ottoman

Usually DIY projects are really easy to be done. They do not take too much time, they make you feel a useful person, make you become an eco friend and they are quite cheap. These are the usual benefits from these DIY projects and they can easily charm you to put them into practice.

Take for example this DIY Leather Ottoman. If you think of this project you might think that it is hard to do, take you a lot of time and can be even expensive. For the contrary, for $50 and an easy work you can do a really great and comfortable DIY Leather Ottoman that will look luxurious and will make your relaxing moments more pleasant.Here are the materials you need: wood glue, wood stain, and poplar wood, natural bristle chip brush, old leather jacket (a big one), furniture straps, quilter's thread, leather needle, fiber fill, canvas. You may also need some tools like: chop saw, nail gun, drill, staple gun, sewing machine, and scissors.

When you select the jacket, pick one that has broad shoulders and few seams. Cut all the leather into pieces and stitch together like a crazy quilt. If you are concerned that you will not have enough leather buy two jackets with complementary colors.

To build the frame start by 1×3 poplar and cut edges on a miter to make a box. Cut two more pieces and insert into the frame. Use a nail gun and wood glue to secure the pieces.Attach the legs to the frame by using wood glue, nails and screws. Predrilled the hole for the screws to that you do not split the wood.

Now you can attach the furniture straps for support. You can buy this material by the yard at most fabric stores or just pick up a tie-down strap at the hardware store.Stain and seal the wood. You may use some oil stain.Now sew your leather into a cushion and stuff with fiber fill.{found on gustoflight}

The Flower chair by Pierre Paulin

Among all the other nature-inspired pieces, there’s also this graceful chair called "Flower". It was designed by Pierre Paulin for Magis in 2009 and it has a very beautiful design. There’s not something particular that makes this chair so beautiful. It’s rather a combination of several aspects that combined give this design.

The Flower armchair is a modern piece of furniture with a very versatile design that allows it to be included in basically any kind of home. It’s also a great piece of furniture for outdoor use. Flower is made of injection-molded plastic. It’s very durable and resistant and, unlike the usual plastic chairs, this one weights more than 20 pounds. This adds stability, even though it might make the chair a little harder to move around. The dimensions of this beautiful piece of furniture are 22.8″w x 30.7″h x 44.9″d, seat height 19.7″.

Flower might seem like a well-thought piece with a detailed design. Those facts are true, but the reality is that this piece didn’t look like that from the beginning. It took more than 10 prototypes until this look was obtained. It sounds like a difficult process but it’s worthed when you see the final product. Flower is available in a lot of different color combinations and leather or fabric seat covers are available.

Five Bathroom Sinks for the Corner

Bathrooms are very important in your home design and I admit I considered the size and design of the bathroom when I purchased my house. Well, not all the bathrooms are big enough to allow you to place there huge luxurious bathtubs or jacuzzi or whatever you might think of for the bathroom. So here is one great idea of saving space in your bathroom: place the sink in a corner. Even if you did not know it, there are special models of sink that are created specially for being placed in a bathroom corner.

Don’t they all look great? No matter if they are made of porcelain, brass or copper, these bathroom corner sinks are unique and beautiful and if you use them you will make the most of your bathroom. This model has a round sink, but the place where you fix the faucet id square and fit for the corner, while this one (shown in the first picture) is elegant ans stylish with a long thin pedestal. You can find many similar models on eBay and get a very good price if you are lucky.
