Style is such a relative concept. It’s hard to compare different items and decide which one is beautiful and which one is a failure in terms of style and aesthetic appeal. However, sometimes there are some unmistakable details that make your job easier. Still, you can’t be lucky all the time so you’ll have to rely on your senses and personal opinions. I’m now in the process of writing this article and I still can’t make my mind when it comes to create an opinion concerning the next item.

The Bohemian chair has been designed by Patricia Urquiola and to me it looks like an attempt to reinvent a classical design and to make it look modern and even stylish. As I’ve already said, it’s just an attempt to so all that because the final product doesn’t look very convincing. I have to admit that the name has been well chosen. The chair emanates some sort of bohemian air, it makes your mind go back in time and imagine some high-class people sitting on this kind of furniture and discussing important matters.

It would probably have been better if the designer have followed the original, sticking close to the basics without trying to achieve something that was obviously too much to ask. However, regardless of the design, the chair actually looks very comfortable. In this area it was a success. Still, a person must first like the way an item looks like and then discuss the other aspects, more practical and functional. But then again, style is not something that you can appreciate as being good or bad, wright or wrong, so each person is free to have its own opinions.

Dare to Have an Orange Bathroom

I don’t know why most people decorate their bathrooms in white (OK it shows cleanliness, I get it) or pale blue or pale green. I guess that suggests a marine theme that links the bathroom design to the water you use in it for cleaning. Any way, I am so bored with these colours and so tired of ordinary and predictable home designs, that I dared hunt for interesting and colourful ideas for arranging an out of the ordinary bathroom. So I thought: Dare to have an orange bathroom!.

And after some research and after talking to several opinions and suggestions and after some major web search I realized the best combination for a good taste orange bathroom is to combine orange with white. For example you can keep the white walls and floor, but add an orange bathtub or sink, some orange decorations, an orange shower curtain and bathroom rug, etc.

Or you can try to combine orange with black if you are a bit dark and more daring. It is interesting and shows sophistication and style. Though it is a bit harder to digest and recommended for younger people. And since we are talking about an interesting choice of colours for the bathroom why don’t we go a bit further and choose some very modern and nice orange vanities, like this Onda set from Bandini? How to get rid of human hair in your house?

You don’t realize certain things or threats or habits until you have a baby and then you see the world around you with different eyes. So you no longer see your house as a nice and pleasant and comfortable home, but as a place full of dangers and enemies for the little baby you are supposed to take care of. That is exactly what happened to me after I gave birth to my first child. And things got worse for the second one. So the first thing I noticed when the baby appeared was that the house did not seem clean enough for her. I mean my little girl was like a trained professional when it came to detecting hairs or dust or even little threads on teh floor or on the furniture. And, of course, she wanted to taste everything and I was terrified to see my hair in her mouth. So I started a desperate hunt for human hair around my house. This way I discovered a few very effective ways of getting rid of human hair in the house.

The first and most common measure is to use a moist brush when you vacuum the carpets and the floors. This way the hairs on their surface is easily gathered around the brush and then thrown into the garbage. Then , if you think there are some long or short hairs stuck in your carpet, especially if it is a thick one, you should use a strong and more resistant brush and this time use your hands for brushing the rugs and carpets. The next step is to use a soft wet cloth for cleaning the floor. OK, so now the big area are covered. But there still hair on smaller areas like the upholstered furniture, the bed and even on your clothes. Try wet rubber gloves and rub them gently against these surfaces and you will see hair gathering even if you couldn’t see it before. For the clothes I recommend some duct tape and a special rotating brush. So good luck with your cleaning attempt!

A Typical Brazilian House by Apiacas Architects

All the people who know how a Brazilian house looks like will say that Juranda House fits perfectly in the pattern. There is no wonder that you find yourself in this realistic house, Brazilian architecture being known as one of the best in the world. Located in Sao Paolo, Brazil,  it was intended to be a transparent house in order to create a connection with the outside;  this way resulted the openings at the front and at the back of the house.The house was designed by Apiacás Arquitetos and it’s the perfect example of a brazilian house.

The building is smaller than you would expect, with a simple design and character, but it seems to fit perfectly in the context. It is made of different materials: prefabricated concrete, steel, bricks in ceramic blocks covered in white, it has limited dimensions, but it is still a lovely house. The real wood burning fireplace gives that cozy feeling and the combination of refined and rough makes everything more interesting.

The doors are solid; the large glass windows open to the entrance garden, offering a great view over the entire city.The open floor plan incorporates a wide variety of dynamic spaces that invite you in. Once you enter this modern place, you feel welcome and you have that sensation of being in a mid-century house.

There is a permanent mixture of refined and rough things, for example the modern armchair and the wooden table or the wooden stairs that connect the two floors. The bookshelves and the decorative objects reveal the personality of the owner. It is an appropriate example of a Brazilian house!
