| Rustic DIY Wine Rack by Matthew Richter Posted: 21 Jul 2011 11:15 AM PDT Wine is also called the Bacchus liquor and is one of the alcoholic drinks appreciated by most of the people. I do not know if you can imagine a romantic dinner without a glass of a sweet wine, a delicious steak of pork without a good company of a glass of red wine and the list may go on.
I am not a good connoisseur of different types of wine but recently I have read an article about the most expensive types of wine in the world which have prices of thousands of dollars or euros. Here are some famous names that most of us definitely have heard about them: Chateau Mouton- Rothschild, Bordeaux, and Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon. If you want to impress your guests with your collection of bottles of wine here it is a solution.Matthew Richter, a founder of XOM, the one-man atelier of fine furniture presents you a DIY wine rack made of live-edge maple scrap that can accommodate up to 16 wine bottles of your collection. This wine rack is 8'-10'tall and has a rustic design which can create a wonderful traditional ambient where everybody should feel nice and comfortable. You can be sure that everybody will appreciate your refined tastes and the ingenious idea related to the storage of these wine bottles. |
| Posted: 21 Jul 2011 09:04 AM PDT It is very important for an apartment to be well- structured, to have enough space for all your things, but also free space; at the same time, it is important to have your apartment decorated according to your own wishes. It is definitely the case with this apartment in Athens. It is the perfect place for a young couple, as it is simple and friendly and as a whole, it is the best example of a unified place.
The interior is dominated by two significant elements: the open kitchen, which is inviting in its simplicity and good taste and the fireplace, which makes the entire atmosphere warm and pleasant. Another successful aspect is represented by the dark colors, complemented by yellow, green and blue tones; they are in a perfect harmony and contribute to the modern air the entire apartment has. This modern apartment was remodeled by Spacelab Architecture.
The colorful aspect is also responsible for the cozy feeling that you encounter once you enter this great environment. Besides all the already mentioned aspects, there is another one that deserves being mentioned and that is the dream blend of art and beauty, which gives personality to the entire place and which attracts any sensitive person. Once you see such an apartment, you definitely make plans for your own place, as it is an inspiring place! |
| Door Designs; The Graveness of Black..! Posted: 21 Jul 2011 08:02 AM PDT Modern architecture has opened up a whole new world of living spaces with forms and features beyond our wildest imaginations. Drawing inspirations from all walks of our lives and showcasing some of the finest designs, today's buildings are no less than a playground for design-hungry people who like to create unique and inspiring styles of halls, doorways and what not.
And when it comes to doors and their designs, a lot of changes have come up since ages. From majestic doorways with heavy detailing, a lot went in to come up with simpler smaller ones in modern houses today. Colours are what make the statement today… And topping over all, the most widely used door colour ideas come out to be black. Symbolising authority and seriousness, black is able to make a very strong statement. Black front door design are quite common of an affair now-a-days.
Designer cut doors painted in all black is another idea that is often looked after when it comes to the black front door design ideas. Cultures around the world are seen to use different carving styles and shapes in the front door and black, most of the time common to all of the cultures. Symbolizing nobility, age and experience, implementing black front door design gives a grave and deep feeling. |
| Posted: 21 Jul 2011 06:34 AM PDT People love books of all kinds. Some of them love adventure, romance, Science fiction books or magazine specialized on different disciplines or that treat different subjects matters. Most of us read some pages before going to bed, while we sit relaxed in hammock in the garden or the newspaper or our favorite magazine near a cup of coffee in the morning when we are prepared to go to work.
For those who prefer reading something before they go to bed, Peter Boeckel, a young industrial designer from Germany created README. It is a useful piece of furniture which represents a nice combination between the characteristics of a lamp and those of a shelf. I guess everybody would love to have this nice four standing legs lamp which actually can be at the same time a great place for storage your favorite books or why not some other small objects that you would like to have near your bed.
README represents a way of saving space and money. It will not be necessary to buy a lamp and a bookshelf which both will occupy some space that now you probably can use it for something else or you will enjoy your spacious room. Its modern design will match perfectly any contemporary interior. |
| Posted: 21 Jul 2011 05:44 AM PDT When you see the Stuv 60, you definitely think about the perfect winter holiday and you already imagine the ideal chalet, which is simple but welcoming and in which one of the main attractions is the stove. This particular stove is a wall hanging stove, which was designed in order to work in a slow-burning mode. Although it makes you think about past and traditions, it is a good example of practical thing; if you put some wood logs in the evening, all you have to do in the morning is to simply reopen Stuv 60, being very easy to rekindle.
The wall stove works most efficiently and economically when it is closed. It is not a common stove and this is not because it has double- skinned walls, but also because its surfaces diffuse heat without ever reaching excessive temperatures, the hot air circulating between the walls.
Stuv 60 has other advantages also. Being a wall hanging stove, it saves space; being fixed in the wall, it is not dangerous for children; having double-skinned walls, it offers that safety feeling we all need when we see fire burning. Last but not least, it provides a romantic atmosphere and makes you dream about future and forget all worries and problems. |
| Impressive Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry in California Posted: 21 Jul 2011 04:51 AM PDT There so many amazing buildings in the world that surprise us with their architectural design and their unique materials. It is also the case of this impressive building which can seat 2,265 people and serves as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
It is called Walt Disney Concert Hall and is situated in California, USA.Its name will make you think of the famous cartoons created by the well known Walt Disney. Just remind you of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast or Snow White. They enchanted your childhood and they still succeed to charm some other generations too.
The building has an old history. Lillian Disney made an initial gift in 1987 to build a performance venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and a tribute to Walt Disney's devotion to the art and the city.
Frank Gehry is the designer of its recent shape and which was opened to the public on 23rd of October 2003.
Its exterior shape has an interesting design which may make you think of different things like a flower in bloom, a huge ship or even a space ship. It depends on your perspective of viewing things and your imagination. |
| Posted: 21 Jul 2011 04:01 AM PDT As the name indicates, this residence is located in Sentosa Cove, in the eastern part of Sentosa Island, in Singapore. It is a dream home on four levels, providing everything a family with children could dream about a house. It has it all: facilities for entertainment and social needs, but also for solitary moments. All done by a Singapore-based architectural firm called ONG&ONG.
The initial plan was respected and resulted in the maximization of space and privacy at the same time. The courtyard is the area that has multiple functions, no matter you want to spend time with your family or invite your friends over at the pool or in the training room or whatever crosses your mind. This place is definitely perfect for an active family. First, it is a large residence, which seems to be more a hotel and not just a home: modern, elegant, luxurious.
It has all the qualities someone could think of: beautiful natural surroundings, more than enough space to live and to do all sorts of activities, wonderful rooms with modern furniture and appliances, great perspectives over the landscape, the newest high-quality things both inside and outside. It is definitely an appropriate example of a luxurious home, a “smart house” with all it stands for. It is impossible not to like this home, which gives the impression that you find yourself in a five-star hotel where everything is at your disposal and the only concern is to feel great. |
| Comfortable Nest for Small Spaces Posted: 21 Jul 2011 02:28 AM PDT Small spaces must have a certain arrangement and a certain kind of furniture in order to save as much place as possible. One of the pieces of furniture, which is perfect for small spaces is the so- called nest, consisting of futon mattress. It is a very practical combination of chair, armchair and bed with a square pillow in the middle. Actually, it can be used as a lounge chair or as a guest bed and its shape is quite interesting in its modernity.
Once you see it, you want to try it! Beyond the idea of furniture, this nest combines the characteristics of the Japanese design tradition with the western preference for comfort and functionality. The simple fact that a Danish designer invented it says very many things: it is an example of quality in its simplistic existence; it looks very well and is functional and practical.
It is ideal for a small space; you can watch TV or the match while you are sitting in the nest, you can read a book, sleep or just relax. It can be placed anywhere, it does not occupy much space and it can be as colored as you want and it is practical for anyone, no matter the age. It is as good for people as a nest for birds! These comfortable seatings was created by Anders Backe. |
| Posted: 21 Jul 2011 01:58 AM PDT Usually when we choose our home appliances, we do not choose them according to their appearance. We try to get the ones which are considered high quality products, which have resistant materials and which are durable and practical. This also applies in the case of hoods, which are among the most important home appliances that have to exist in a kitchen in which people cook.
This does not mean that we cannot choose a product that has all the already-mentioned attributes and it looks good. Airone Boheme Wall Hood fits into this typology; it is beautiful and it has everything you could want in terms of wall hoods: sliding, wave-shaped black glass panel, four-speed electronic touch controls, auto switch off function and filter cleaning indicator. It covers a surface of 80 cm; it has a high performance motor equipped with aluminum blower.
Besides the existing attributes, there other options which can be installed, such as a remote motor with a high extraction capacity, washable carbon filters. There are other characteristics that make the Airone Boheme Wall Hood the perfect choice for any kitchen, such as: the double suction from the frontal panel and on the lower side, which ensures better efficiency, the anodized aluminum grease filters, the 20 W dichroic lamps. Its elegance and Bohemian air makes the difference! |
| Posted: 21 Jul 2011 01:04 AM PDT The first time you see a photo of this place, it makes you think about a stadium. It is located in Brasilia, Brazil and it is a very good example (if not the best) of a modern building; if the entire place should be characterized in one word, this word would definitely be “contemporary” by Rocco, Vidal + arquitetos.
It is also a proof of originality regarding its volume and its shape, it is something you have never seen before, a place you do not want to leave. It is interesting not only to see this place in a magazine or a photo, it is attractive for visitors, being also a place which can host different events and cultural activities. Among the most important aspects there is the central plaza with trees, the grid that seems to be a sort of projection, which was built in order to protect the Alphaville stand.
Everything suggerates high quality, the materials, the shape of the construction, its disposal, nothing was done randomly and this thing can be noticed in every corner, in every little thing which belongs to this place. The colors perfectly match, in harmony even with the sky, as if they want to prove that people are capable of doing great things. The interior is unique, an ideal image of such a center: from the elegant armchairs and sofas, to the trees and lights which offer a new perspective over things; it is definitely the best place in which you could be! |
