Modern House E in Mexico

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 11:38 AM PDT

Even at the first sight, House E seems to transmit a message: that of a modern house, perfect for family life. It is located in Puerta de Hierro, Mexico and it is an expression of the desire of finding new elements to shape a new architecture. It is majestic in its modern form, surrounded by a nice yard, in its wood shade and quality of space done by Agraz Arquitectos. It definitely makes you think about geometry and ground motion, but it is so nicely done that you will like it.

The building in itself is high and seems to be protected by a sort of defensive wall. Despite its size, the construction is simple, modern and it definitely proves good taste, style and elegance. The wide glass windows create the impression of a even larger space for both levels. The interior is also a proof of high quality and good taste and keeps the same air of elegance, simple lines, devoid of ornaments.

The same idea is emphasized by the use of materials: white concrete, wood, but also by the simple elements in the large white interiors. One of the most original aspects is  the staircase climbing to the second level and turned into a sculpture. It is perfect for the entire atmosphere of the house and it is the key-element in the simplicity of the room. The general impression of comfort and relaxation is also given by the horizontal elements. It is an awesome simple home where you feel at ease.

Outline Vase from Mocha

Summer is the season of flowers and beauty and life. And if you don’t have a flower garden and live in an apartment then the next closest thing to it is a vase full of flowers on your living room table. So if you want a cool and modern minimalist vase follow my link and visit the web site belonging to Mocha, an UK producer of home accessories. You will be able to purchase it for £39.99 here.

Yuko Tokuda is the one responsible for the design of this interesting vase and, as you can see, this vase is not called outline vase for nothing. It really is the outline of a vase but made of porcelain, with the interesting choice of shape for a vase. Only this outline is empty on the inside and the place where you should put the flower or flowers. My guess is a single big flower is perfect for this unique interesting looking vase that is so delicate you can only hand wash it.

Dinosaur Storage Bins

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 10:03 AM PDT

Dinosaurs lived a long time ago, but people are still fascinated by them and use them in stories and movies. Kids are the most enthusiastic dinosaurs fans and they turn them into dear friends so that they can even talk to them and bring them in their rooms. I can testify that my boy has a very large collection of dinosaur toys and dinosaur pictures on his clothes plus many books. Well, furniture manufacturers are well aware of that so they used dinosaur images on their products for the kids room. And, of course, one of the most important items for this room (from all mothers’ point of view) is the storage bin. Children will be thrilled to have big and colourful dinosaurs painted on their storage bins and this way you can make gathering toys a pleasant activity.

Well, this particular storage bin has three dimensional dinosaurs applied on the bins and have a non-toxic painted finish. They are easy to put together and they are available in Blue, Red or Green. These bins are now for sale for a very good price – $34.99.

Functional multi-purpose bookcase

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 09:44 AM PDT

There are a lot of different designs when it comes to bookcases. Lately, designers have even started to combine different pieces of furniture in order to create things like a bookcase inside a chair, or a mobile room with a bookcase inside, several relaxing reading chairs with bookcases incorporated etc. However, if you're not necessarily looking for something unconventional or out of the ordinary, here's a design that you might like.

It's a very simple bookcase. It's made of wood with chocolate-stained wood veneer and it measures 36″w x 13″d x 72″h. It's a very versatile piece of furniture as it features multiple storage spaces of different shapes and sizes. This allows you to store all sorts of things, like books, magazines, collectibles, decorations and anything else that comes in your mind. There two central rectangular spaces that seem to be the center of attention. You can store things according to their importance of frequency of use.

It's a medium-sized piece so it can be incorporated into the living room or even in the bedroom. It has a simple design which makes it adaptable to almost any kind of interior. You can buy it for EUR 319.37. It's a simple but elegance piece of furniture that would look great in any home.

Clontarf Castle Hotel in Dublin

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 08:12 AM PDT

We all dream about living in castles when we are kids. The girls want to be the lady of the castle and the boys want either to conquer it or defend it. Either way, it’s part of every kid’s dream to live in a castle and some people can do this. Of course it’s a bit more difficult to own a castle, so you’d better choose the second option : to live in a hotel-castle for a few days as a guest. One of the most beautiful and oldest castles turned into hotels in Ireland is Clontarf Castle Hotel situated near Dublin.

It looks just like a castle in the Middle Ages because that’s exactly what it is since it was built some time back in the 12th century. But on the inside things are completely different. The owners spent a pretty large sum of money a few years ago to have the castle/hotel interior totally redesigned and updated. I mean you can enjoy the historical scenery and use the wireless internet connectivity available in the hotel and enjoy a nice hot bath in a modern bathroom.

Of course some specific features have been preserved because they bring a personal touch to the building and the surrounding area, but they were modernized and made comfortable and nice. You can book rooms in this hotel if you come on holiday with your family, but also if you need some high quality space for events such as weddings, receptions, staff meetings, conferences, etc.

But I will leave you the pleasure to discover more details by visiting their web site.

The Octopus Table by Jesse Shaw

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 12:42 AM PDT

The octopus has been an inspiration for several different pieces of furniture like the octopus chair or several octopus-inspired coffee tables and end tables. Here's another very interesting creation that has the same source of inspiration. It's a low table designed by Jesse Shaw.

Featuring a very beautiful wooden base shaped like an octopus and a transparent glass top, this table is an eye-catching piece of furniture that will definitely stand out. The wooden replica of the octopus features 6 arms that support the glass top. They are placed at the same distance one from the others. The designer didn't try to create a very realistic replica f the actual octopus, but more like a stylized version of it. Scientists believe that an octopus has 6 arms and 2 legs. This one only has the 6 arms, since the legs would have looked odd.

The table actually allows you to adopt two different designs: the base can be inverted so that the tentacles can be facing upward or downward. The Octopus Table is a very modern adaptation, a stylish and interesting piece of furniture that will definitely become a conversion subject.
