The Modern Nautilus Project by Design Spirits

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 10:45 AM PDT

If you intend to choose a restaurant for a business meeting or a romantic dinner, the first things that you will look for will be privacy, comfort and quality services.

The Nautilus Project is a wonderful, modern restaurant, designed by Design Spirits. It is located in Singapore, situated on the fourth floor of the ION shopping centre. Its entrance is not a common one because the designers gave up of using the doors or other dividers and both sides of the passage way for the entrance are curved inward towards the middle so that the access should be more easy and attractive.

The atmosphere is warm, intimate and attractive. Wood seems to dominate the whole interior. There is wood parquet on the floor which is doubled by the same nuance and design for the ceiling.

The intimacy and privacy are assured by the existence of some wood dividers or walls which also create separated areas. There are many holes and LED lighting cuts into the walls which create a modern design and a beautiful ambiance. The tables of the restaurant and the bar chairs are made of the same light brown wood which dominates the whole space and creates this warm atmosphere.

Mobile bathtub-like planter

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 09:20 AM PDT

A lot of people like plants and flowers and they really enjoy having them in their homes or garden, taking care of them and even talking to them. However, sometimes they have to give up this hobby or passion because the space doesn't allow them to have plants. In an effort to solve this problem, Essero, a Canadian company specialized in producing ingenious gardening products, has come up with a mobile planter.

This allows the user to easily change its location, in case of a small home where space is usually a problem and the same area is used for multiple purposes. This incredibly cute and versatile planter can be used both indoor and outdoor. It has a very simple design and a shape that resembles a small bathtub. The planter is molded in polyethylene and has four small wheels that allow it to be moved around easily. Underneath there's plenty of space that allows air to get through and preventing this way mold and wildew that would otherwise form.

The planter has a friendly shape, simple design and versatile characteristics that allow it to be included in nay type of home. It can also be used both indoors, during the winter month, or outdoor, the rest of the year. It would be a great choice for any garden or home.

Villa Arrighi – A Dream Place

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 09:05 AM PDT

Who did not feel the need to escape the routine, forget all the problems and worries and spend some time in a dream place, far away, for few days at least? If it has happened to you and you want to arrive in a new location, here is the perfect solution: Villa Arrighi, along the Umbrian countryside, on the border with Tuscany, in the so-called “green heart of Italy”, where nothing seems to be spoiled by the passing of time.

This place seems to be the only place on earth, being surrounded by hills, vineyards, oak and chestnut woods, an infinite pool and the building in itself seems to exist only to please its visitors and to make their staying as pleasant as possible. Villa Arrighi looks like a fortress which defies time;  its majestic look makes it the perfect place for a holiday, as you feel safe, you “breathe” beauty and you feel more at ease than you have ever felt before.

The interior seems to say the entire story of this place, but its present  modernity does not affect the feeling of safety previously offered. The modern paintings on the walls, the furniture pieces, the stairs, the library which makes you feel at home, the perfectly chosen decorative elements, everything around is an example of refined taste, of style and contributes to the general impression of having made the possible best choice and delay your departure.

Absolute Towers by MAD Architects

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 04:10 AM PDT

Located in Mississauga, Canada, these two towers are just about to be completed. The project was designed and created by MAD Architects that in 2006 won the international competition to design the towers. The construction had to be completed in late 2009 but, as we all know, these things usually take longer than expected.

The whole project consists in five amazing towers called The Absolute Condos. There are five of them because the first ones were so successful that the developers announced another one that will be the fifth and final tower. The project is a combination of glass, concrete and steel. The overall image is very modern and beautiful. Everyone has noticed the beautiful shape of the towers. That's actually why the first Absolute tower has been nicknamed Marilyn Monroe by the locals. The towers are 56-story buildings and they manage to get in touch with the sun and wind, as the designers wanted.

The towers stick together resembling human beings that just gathered to chat. The whole project is a great example of modernism and how it can make the city more beautiful. Obviously, the towers have become a landmark in the area. They are a combination of sturdy structures and soft and beautiful silhouettes. Unlike most of the buildings and towers, the Absolute Towers have completely eliminated the vertical lines managing to find another way, more poetic, of expressing height.

Plushtography lens pillows

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 03:47 AM PDT

A very fun piece has just been created by Plushtography, a design studio specialized in this kind of items. The studio started creating the pillows for themselves but, since they were so fun and so interesting, it wasn't long until others wanted to have one just for them.

The Lens Pillows are a great toy for photography enthusiasts, whether this is their job or they just do it as a hobby. Because they are so fun but also so soft and cozy, they make a great gift for those to love photography. Combining fun with functionality was not easy. The pillows had to be a close replica of the real item but it also had to be soft and usable. As you can see, they did an amazing job.

The pillows look very real and, because they are made of fleece and felt, they are also very soft and huggable. In fact, the producers have declared the followings: "Our products are 100% handmade, and each one is pre-hugged by a team of koalas to ensure maximum huggability."

After you've heard that you can't resist them. The pillows are very fun and very soft. They come in three shapes: a Canon 50mm and a Nikon 35mm lens for $35 and a Canon 24-105mm lens for $65. Choose the one you like or the one that has sentimental value in your case.
