An Ideal Scandinavian Summer House

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 11:18 AM PDT

A Scandinavian summer house fits a certain type of house, but this Scandinavian summer house exceeds all expectations. It has everything you might think of : green space and beautiful trees which seem to protect the entire place, a wide space for all sorts of outdoor activities;  rooms in black and white with spots of orange  in different objects, wide glass windows which encourage to admire the outside view,  decorative objects which give a modern tint to the entire environment.

This house is the perfect combination of the Scandinavian living with mid-century furniture, creating a very pleasant environment. The chairs, the lamps, the carpet are the key elements which make the difference in this classical  atmosphere. Actually, the orange objects are the ones that give that retro perspective over things in this Scandinavian area, the things which give a positive energy and dynamism.

The form of the armchairs is very modern and  in the same tone with the other furniture pieces. The black furniture in a white background is a nice and elegant joint which makes you realize the difference between modern and classical. Each room has something special, at least one item which gives life to the entire space and which makes you like it even more: the colored paintings on the white walls, the modern lamps in the kitchen, every little thing has its part in rendering the entire space a unique beauty and in making people see the good part of life.{found on bobedre}

Simple DIY Home Light

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 10:35 AM PDT

Many of us do not keep too many things in the house if we do not use them. Most of the time, we throw away these things although they may be in good shape or they still function.

Think of how many times you threw away plastic used bottles, jars, old paintings, vintage clothes, plates or cups and the list may go on that you have considered wasteless and that they occupy your space for no reason. All these things could become materials for other original things that could make your home look more attractive and interesting.

Take for example this simple DIY Home Light that can be a great pendant lamp for your kitchen. You may create it yourself without too much effort and in the end you may become proud of your talent and result. It is made of 120 plastic drink cups which are washed and dried. Then you will take two of them and you will staple together side-by-side. In order to do a good job you need to place the stapler deep into each cup as far as possible. Now your lamp is getting its curved shape and you will be amazed by the final result.

You may also use your imagination and talent and create some other objects for your home and you will see that the others' appreciations will not delay to appear.You may also think that it is an activity which helps you to save money and recycle many materials.{found on residentialhd}

Prepare to be amazed because we present to you a very special chair that can't be compared to any other one that you've ever seen. Created by New York based designer Francis A. Bitonti, this unusual chair is a combination of comfort and technology. It's an extremely attractive piece of furniture for various reasons.

One of them is the vibrant color and the funny texture. Another one is the shape that, by the way, can be changed. The third reason is the fact that this chair is extremely comfortable. Also, it's very versatile at various levels. By simply plugging it in, you can very easily change the chairs aspect, shape and size. You can turn it from a stool into a rocking chair, into a mini-sofa or into anything else you mind tells you to. It's a very challenging piece of furniture that invites the user to play with it. This is possible because of its active Shape Memory Polymer core.

It's an extremely versatile piece of furniture because of its capacity to change form and size. This unusual piece will provide you with fun and comfort, which is more than most chair do. It would be a very interesting choice for a kid's room but I'm sure the adults can't wait to play with it too. This chair will keep you busy for a while.

Dream Penthouse in Madrid

Every person dreams about having his own home and imagines how his/her house will look like, how it will be decorated and the moment in which everything will be finished and all his friends and family  will take part in the new house party. Jacques Grange is a French interior designer, famous for decorating the houses of many celebrities.

One of the most  interesting things is to see how a famous designer decorated his own home. His house is located in Portugal, in a place called Alentejo. There is an obvious influence of the Maroccan style and this is a proof of the owner’s good taste and style. The interior is a dream place, with all sorts of Portuguese, Turkish and French shades that invite you to discover a new world, a perfect blend and an ideal kitchen.

The pottery and the porcellain around the house are the best example of these foreign influences, as if a piece of each country was brought here. For example, the blue and white ceramic tile behind the stove seems to share its story with the one who looks at it. Some of the furniture pieces are from Bali, contributing to refresh the atmosphere.

The combination of white and blue reveals an incomparable  serenity that in not easy to encounter. The wooden interior creates an unrivaled feeling. Every little corner of the house is nicely emphasized, the decorative objects being the proof of unforgettable experiences. It is definitely a dream house for both the owner and the viewer!{found on elle spain}

Bedroom Designs; Let your Imagination run Wild..!

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 08:10 AM PDT

Take a minute to look around yourself, and you wouldn't be surprised if you happen to see some really beautifully constructed houses; architecture indeed has taken a giant leap since a few years back. With creativity flowing wild and increase in people's buying powers, only sky is the limit. And the real deal is in the interiors, decorated totally to the owners taste; today one can get the interiors designed to almost any theme, never thought even slightly possible. And the part which gets the most attention in all is the different types of bedroom designs.

A bedroom today is so much more than just retiring room; a place to escape, to feel the silence and solitude away from everyday demands. And it is not the cost that matters, but the creativity; with the right ideas one can create a masterpiece even at a lower cost.

Among all the different types of bedroom design ideas that can come up, the one that can be easily tried upon is to paint the walls in new shades and styles to fit your mood. From wallpapers to plastic paints, the options are almost endless. And once doe with the walls, it becomes easier to decide upon the furnishings to suit the theme you have in mind.

And if you still are hungry for more different types of bedroom design ideas, you can take a look at your curtains/blinds. Choosing the right colour and right material is crucial. Even experimentation with velvet and drapes can come out to be great. And it greatly determines how well you receive the morning light into your room; the shade you like, the intensity and part you want to illuminate with the first rays of morning light.

The best idea is to do something never ever thought before but keeping in context with the theme. And for that to happen, it is not money but the creativity of the decorator which matters. Placing the articles like the TV or the lamp in the room can create a large difference in the way a room would finally look. The more the windows in the room, more is the amount of natural light seeping into the room. Glassware can give it a touch of luxury, so can fine textured fabrics for the curtains as well as the bed ware.

If somebody asks me for some more different types of bedroom design ideas, all I would say is do what all you can think of without thinking about how it looks and later you can selectively arrange everything to fit together. Getting the right bed sheets and pillows are as important as the wall hangings and show pieces that adorn the displays. But most of the times a minimalistic approach looks inspiring and attractive when it comes to the bedrooms; none-the-less, even extravagance can be easily brought out according to people's choice and taste. Making the final word, it isn't hard to say that bedroom design ideas have no limits and experimenting now and again isn't a bad idea and must be considered.

In a living room, the most important element is probably the sofa. It's the place where people gather to chat and spend time together so it's important to have a comfortable sofa. There's nothing like a soft sofa and some cozy pillows to make your time there more pleasant. The item we're going to present to you here might be perceived very differently by some people.

It's a collection of Mongolian lamb pillow covers. The detail that will probably generate different opinion is the fact that they are made of actual lambskin and fur. I'm sure some of you find this very cruel and unacceptable, but you can't deny the fact they are extremely soft and cozy. For some people the materials used don't really matter as long as they are satisfied by the product. The collection features four different sizes of pillow covers: 12'' x 16'', 16''sq, 24''sq and 14'' x 36''.They are all soft and furry and will definitely help you feel more comfortable.

The pillow covers come in a variety of different colors, the most popular being the tones of gray and beige. They would look very beautiful and cute on a living room sofa or in the bedroom. The price varies from $43 to $94. Of course, in addition to these lovely pillow covers you'll also need some pillows to fill them with.

Powder room decoration: awesome!!

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 06:06 AM PDT

The powder room is an integral part of most public spaces, be it a restaurant, hospital, hotel or office building or even an airplane. A powder room is an essential feature. It is a necessity not a luxury. However, even in a home, provided space constraints allow, a powder room is a good thing to incorporate in a design. Powder rooms vary in term of size and can also swing from the bare bones basic to the height of luxury.

Any design magazine will feature powder room design pictures along with powder room decorating ideas. One of the best examples of a modern powder room is an aircraft toilet. Completely stripped and basic, scrunched for space, it's a marvel of modern day inventiveness, managing to incorporate every single basic necessity including a platform to change a baby's diaper. One step up from this is powder rooms in restaurants, motels, malls and business centers.

Any design magazine will carry pictures of modern powder room ideas all of these look pretty much the same for the four categories above. Whether it's a motel or a budget restaurant, a mall or an office the powder rooms will all consist of a common area with wash hand basins and a large mirror and rows of cubicles. All of these are partitioned by walls and doors made of wooden board. The only distinctions would lie in the alignment of the cubicles to the main area, the number of cubicles which could range from as little as one to twenty (depending upon the traffic and the space allocation), and the color scheme of the laminate of the cubicle partitions.

Powder room interior design can vary from the staid to the hip, simple to luxurious, starkly modern to quaintly period. Interesting powder rooms can consist of an antique look such as an antique commode, with wood cladding and a chain flush system, dull brass taps and a ceramic basin, complete with a dry flower arrangement and dainty hand embroidered hand towels, crisply starched and folded, lying neatly in a wicker basket, instead of the ubiquitous tissue paper towels which are an integral feature of most modern powder rooms.

On the other hand, one can have starkly modern powder room ideas with a surrealistic glass or ceramic wash hand basin and blocked lines. So, the possibilities of powder room design are endless. So, go get your own powder room, today.{pictures from decorati}

Deneb glass vase by Guillaume Delvigne

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 01:51 AM PDT

Focusing on functionality and on the useful side of his creation, French designer has come up with an ingenious creation. He designed a glass vase that has a cork tray attached to it. The attachment can be used for all sorts of things but its main purpose was to provide the user with a recipient for falling leaves, petals, seeds, and other elements of the flowers of plants you like to have in your home.

Since it's been created having in mind functionality and not wanting necessarily to create a sophisticated piece, the vase has a very simple look. The actual vase is made of glass and it comes in a very beautiful and relaxing tone of blue. The cork tray attached to it has a natural color and a square shape. The vase can be detached from the tray. This way it's easier to clean. The funny thing is that when you remove the glass vase, the rest looks very similar to a pet feeder, with a compartment for water and one for food. Some people might even use it for that when they get bored of the vase.

However, this was not the purpose of this creation. It could be very useful sometimes, especially if you like flowers and diversity. You'll se that you'll eventually get tired to go every time to pick up the dried-up leaves of flowers and go throw them out. You'll wish you had a Deneb vase.

Commercial Complex Design by JUNGLIM Architecture

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 01:06 AM PDT

La-Cubo was designed by JUNGLIM Architecture and is located in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, in Republic of Korea. It is actually “a cube” and if this does not say enough, it is the only commercial facility on the Lake Park site, at the center of the complex. It is called “la -cubo” probably because of the strange but interesting shape of the building, which attracts a large number of visitors, curious to see what this form actually represents.

The building faces a water park, aspect appreciated especially by children and it has the best conditions in the complex, aspect appreciated by adults. The existing indoor and outdoor spaces attract a large number of people to maximum. The zigzag shape itself offers different views ; this is also a plus in the conditions of a place which offers various opportunities for the facility users that get here.

Although it seems to occupy a wide space, it is actually small in scale, but it provides a wide range of facilities and this makes it even more appealing. Thanks to the central location in the complex, it is considered a kind of unique “cultural icon” and this attracts a large number of people who are willing to see new things, to discover the facilities it promises to reveal. You definitely have to see ”the Cube”!

Tower House In Texas

Posted: 03 Jul 2011 11:20 PM PDT

The Tower House is located in Austin, Texas and it is actually a limestone cabin, somewhere along Lake Travis. It has the height and the appearance of a block, but it is an original stone cabin which is juxtaposed with a vertical wooden tower.

The building has three levels, the third being a terrace from where people can admire the lake and the hills that surround the area;  it is definitely a beautiful place in which groups of friends and family members can gather and enjoy themselves. A porch faces the lake, creating a pleasant, romantic environment, perfect for a summer holiday, but not only for summer.

This image of  the  ”tower house” makes you think about a church or a historic building, but the modern terrace, the use of  glass, wood, the intelligent interior design, the simple but modern furniture make you realize that you find yourself in a place which totally fits in the natural environmnet in which it was built.

The juxtaposed vertical tower proves to be a very intelligent and practical  idea and, at the same time, it gives an air of originality and creates a pleasant  ambient, beingobviously a beautifully executed work. It is the ideal expression of a dream place in which mental and physical comfort are guaranteed.The house was designed by Andersson Wise Architects in 2008.
