Volo Chair:A Tottaly Different Chair

Posted: 13 Jun 2011 10:39 AM PDT

When people think about a chair, they think about an object, an item that they need to sit on when they eat, when they are in their office or at home, in front of the computer. They definitely do not think about the Volo Chair and they do not even imagine that someone could design a chair like this particular one, or at least this is the case of ordinary people.

Why is this chair designed by a German designer Andreas Störiko so special? Because it is different: it is simple and sophisticated at the same time. You could think that its place is in a spaceship as it reminds me of the famous movie with aliens, but let’s get back to earth… except the fact that it is definitely another type of chair, when you see it, it gives you the impression that it is very light because of the simple superior part, but at the same time, it has a steel base which makes you feel comfortable.

Although it is different, this simple chair can be the one which makes you feel relaxed, forget about a long day at work or it it can turn into a way of letting your thoughts fly or dream about a better world, without having to worry about the past or the future and just feel good about being yourself in your cosy chair, no matter where it is placed.

Bestow Hand Hook from Areaware

Posted: 13 Jun 2011 09:40 AM PDT

I like unusual things, even if I am talking about apparently simple and small things. For example I prefer using an old ceramic mug as a flower vase and rough unrefined blocks of wood for chairs instead of purchasing very stylish and pretentious things in my house. I’d rather have a black bathroom and so on. o I was really thrilled when I found this nice Bestow Hand Hook from Areaware.

The designer Harry Allen made the hand model using his own hand and used resin, marble, glass and stainless steel. The hand looks very natural and it comes with all the necessary hardware you need to fix it to the wall. So you can see a hand coming out of the wall and holding a flower vase or a candle stick holder. I like it, but some people might find it creepy. If you like this unusual flower vase support , you can purchase it now for $75.

Huge 3D Plasma TV for Your Living Room

Posted: 13 Jun 2011 09:10 AM PDT

Ever since Avatar appeared on screen, people have been crazy about 3D movies. They want to see movies using this technology and they want to see them both in the cinema and in their own homes. So high tech manufacturers invented 3D plasma TV sets and started selling them all over the place. One of these manufacturers is called Bang&Olufsen and comes from Denmark and its latest product is BeoVision 4 85-inch plasma TV.

It is part of the home theater you can have in your house and it adds a touch of realism to the movies you see there. Any way, this is an amazing gadget first because of its size, which is impressive at its 85 inches, but in my opinion you should only buy it if you have a huge living room or a special room for viewing films because otherwise it’s simply too much.

You can control it and adjust all its features by using the Beo6 remote control and it uses active shutter glasses. You can change the picture quality thanks to the Automatic Colour Management. The anti reflection coating of the screen is also very useful as it allows you to view movies during the day without the unpleasant light reflection. All in all, great product for your home.

How to Decorate Kitchen with Oak Cabinets?

Posted: 13 Jun 2011 07:33 AM PDT

Are you looking for an efficient solution to give your old kitchen a makeover? Does your kitchen feature oak cabinets? Well, no need to blame oak cabinets for the outdated look as nothing appeals feels better than classic oak cabinets installed in a kitchen. The light washed out color imparted to the room by oak cabinets can be easily spruced up by employing efficient decorating techniques.

Many homeowners stick to the rule that kitchens should be painted in white or light color. However, in case of kitchens with oak cabinets, as a light color tone has already been introduced by way of oak cabinets, it would be appropriate to choose dark saturated colors for painting the walls. Lively wallpaper with interesting patterns may also be chosen to set off the pale look and create an inviting area for the family.

Choose opulence bold fabrics featuring loud prints for dressing the windows. Always remember that there is very little scope to introduce fabric inside the kitchen, therefore the opportunity imparted by the windows should be used efficiently.

Kitchen accessories are other popular and efficient ways to decorate a kitchen with oak cabinets in an impressive manner. The accessories should be selected in alliance with the color of the walls. Introduce jars, hand towels, table mats in matching color and pattern as that featured by the walls.

Provide the cabinets with a facelift by updating their hardware such as hinges and handles. Choose deep colored unique pieces to enhance the kitchen décor. Ensure to select a different style than the existing cabinet fixtures installed, so that the new ones catch the eye.

A splash of color may also be added to the pale kitchen by laying down a vibrant runner near the sink area. An attractive kitchen rug with bold geometric prints or eye catching designs may also be employed as a trick to breathe in life to the kitchen.

A tile splash guard may also be installed above the countertop and behind the stove area to lend a dramatic statement to the room. Try selecting the splash guard in contrasting colors to the oak cabinets and complementing the walls. You may also create some pattern or design by employing varied colored tiles.{pictures from Stosa }

Apparently her sons carry on the tradition and they have the fame of movie stars, especially now with all the fuss with the royal wedding of Prince William with Kate Middleton.

And since fame has always brought money, the auctioneers who intend to sell the house where Kate used to live as a child want to make the most of her newly gained fame and sell the property for a very good price. The list price is £495,000 (US $809,430) and the house is located in the village of Southend Bradfield, 48 miles west of London.

This is a Victorian house and, according to the tradition , it also has a name: West View. It was bought by Kate Middleton’ s parents some time in 1979 and she lived there for about 12 years when she was a kid. The house is located on the Avenue of Oaks, near a sports complex and a golf course. Convenient table-cabinet from Attua Aparicio Torinos

Posted: 13 Jun 2011 02:56 AM PDT

As the humanity is continuously expanding, it's natural for space to be a big problem. It you think logically, at the beginning there were probably just a few people, or ancestors of those. As time has passed, they've been…busy and multiplied. They still continue to do that. But, clever as they are, people have tried to solve this problem so they have come up with numerous ideas of how to save space.

A very good example for that matter is this very ingenious combination of a table and a cabinet. It's actually the cabinet that is more visible. The table just pops up of the cabinet when needed. It's a very surprising piece of furniture. It's very useful and functional and it doesn't take much space. It's like you'd only have a cabinet, that you need anyway, that comes with a surprise table, that you also need.

This creation allows you to save quite a lot of space. You don't have to sacrifice anything just because the space available is restricted. You just have to know where to look for furniture and what to choose. Imagination is very important in this process. You have to be able to transform an inconvenient into something positive, or at least neutral. In order to be able to do that you'll also need some help from designers.
