However, every once in a while some people realize you can do so much more than simple furniture that does not express anything and they try to turn a simple chair into a meaningful work of art. For example gthe furniture designer Michael Whitney imagined a very different chair gthat was actually physically linked to another chair and called it or them “Mother-Daughter chair”. The design of this chair is really interesting as it conjoins two chairs together. But if you want to understand the meaning behind the piece of furniture, you should try and see beyond the surface. And you will realize the two chairs are very different in style and colour and everything else. One of them is a bit old fashioned and traditional – that would be the “mother” and the small one is very modern and stylish, with metal tipped legs – that is the “daughter”. Even though they are apparently very different, they are part of each other whether they want it or not . Each of the two chairs has only three legs, the fourth one being shared with the other. Pretty cool picture for the family link, right?

Ceramic dog-shaped speakers Posted: 18 May 2011 02:50 AM PDT Dog lovers, prepare to see something unique and very exclusive. It's the new creation designed by Matteo Cibic and it's called Hi-Fido. It's an unusual audio speaker made from ceramic and shaped like a dog. The combination is unusual but successful. The ceramic diffuses high quality sound with a bass reflex system and the dog shape,well, that's just funny. Animal lovers sometimes tend to go a little crazy and to purchase more than the animal they like. So a dog lover will usually have more than a dog; he will also have other dog-inspired elements. The cat lovers… I don't even want to start talking about that. Anyway, I find this new design very attractive and funny and not just for the dog owners. Unfortunately, these speakers are only available in extremely limited quantities: a total50 items and only 10 of them are available in the U.S. They have been released in April this year. I don't have any information on the price of these speakers, but given their very limited number, it's probably going to be in inverse ratio to this one. This is a big minus for this design. I don't understand this kind of people. If they have a great idea like this one and the result is so funny and beautiful, I don't see why they refuse to make more people happy. Anyway, c'est la vie.

Frankly speaking, hardly of us must be aware of the fact that there are actually several types of door knobs. There are basically four types of doorknobs, with each category relating to a specific purpose. Some are used for the functional purpose, some are merely decorative pieces, whereas many are employed for the purpose of security.  The four types of knobs are passage knobs, dummy knobs, keyed entrance knobs and privacy knobs. Passage knobs Passage knobs are same as their name implies. They are also known as hall knobs or closet knobs. A passage can be obtained without the use of key. Generally, these knobs do not lock on either sides of the door. Hence, these door knobs are ideal for children bedrooms and playrooms, or spaces that need not be locked unnecessarily such as the store room. Dummy knobs Dummy knobs are named so because they are truly used for the purpose of decoration and design. Dummy knob do not turn or latch, and are employed for the purpose of aesthetics. Generally, these knobs are installed at places, where two doors are closed side by side, for example, inactive doors such that of cupboards and wardrobes. However, installation of door knobs is very much necessary as they give way for a balanced look. Keyed entrance knobs Keyed knobs are exactly what are implied by their name. These knobs require a key for the door to be unlocked from outside. They are commonly used on the exterior doors. Some house owners even prefer installing entrance knobs on their bedroom doors and terrace doors. In certain cases, identical style of doorknobs can be used throughout the house or building, thereby allowing the owner to asses all the locks with a single key. On the other hand, individual keyed entrance knobs are available with separate keys. Privacy knobs As the name sounds, private knobs are employed for the aim of privacy. These knobs do not allow access from outside. These knobs can be locked and unlocked from inside only, and thereby are ideal for spaces that need to be kept private such as bathrooms, shower room, bedroom, guest room, locker room and other spaces of the house, which need to be kept private.

Unconventional bear skin rug Posted: 18 May 2011 01:17 AM PDT Everybody knows the original bear skin rug. As the name says, it's a rug made from an actual bear skin. The problem was exactly that. Bear are no longer as numerous as they used to be so they have become an endangered species. Even if they weren't it was still cruel to kill a beautiful polar bear just to take its skin and make a rug that people walk on. Fortunately, French designer Lise Lefebvre has found a simple solution for that that will make both humans and bears happy. The new rug design combines the classical polar bear rug with elements of the Persian rug. In other words, it's a rug shaped like a bear but made from fabric. It's an ingenious combination and the result is an eye-catching rug. It's not as impressive as the real polar bear rug, but it's a beautiful replacement that will hopefully contribute to the saving of the bear population. It's a very cool and a very good replica of the original bear skin rug. Hopefully this idea will catch on and people will appreciate the effort. This Persian bear skin rug looks traditional because of the Persian elements but it would also make a great addition to a more modern home because of the unconventional design and combination of styles.
