Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona – Arizona Posted: 02 Apr 2011 10:55 AM PDT If you ever go in the desert and you are surrounded by red rocks and miles of wilderness, the last thing you expect to see is a chapel. And not any kind of chapel but a great accomplishment of modern architecture that is placed on top of a rock, looking as if it emerged from it and half buried in it at the same time. It’s simply amazing and leaves you speechless.         This simple, yet very beautiful building is called the Chapel of the Holy Cross and it is located in Sedona, Arizona. It is a Roman Catholic church and it was designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, formerly a student of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright. The designer wanted to build such an unusual chapel in Europe first, but she could not find the proper place for it, so she returned to the US and found the right spot back in the 1930s.                         The Chapel was completed in April 1956 and has been a landmark of the place ever since. Even if it was built over half a century ago, it is still surprisingly modern and contemporary, as it is very simple in style , with very clear edges and regular shape, having the rock itself as foundation, with very little adornments both on the inside and on the outside, a miracle in itself.

Vivid Colours for a Modern Kitchen Posted: 02 Apr 2011 09:13 AM PDT If you have  large kitchen and you want to arrange it as a special place in the house, you can play with the colours a bit and obtain something really great. For example if you are a young and active person you can very well use vivid colours that are rarely tolerated by older people. But if you know how to match these colours with the furniture, you can get quite a spectacular overall view. Red is one of the most vivid colours and you can use it in combination with beige  furniture and maybe brown for the floor. These pictures illustrate my point perfectly. But do not use it too much, as it can get pretty tiresome for the eyes and it ruins the visual effect. You must use it carefully for the decorations, maybe some shelves, flower pots or maybe even some lamps hanging from the walls. It is also a good idea to separate several areas, especially if you have a large kitchen. It must be clear where is the place you use when cooking and on the other side place the table or bar. As people no longer eat officially and all dressed up in their dining rooms, they prefer a cozier atmosphere of the kitchen, but it’s better to separate this area – something like a dining area near the kitchen or as an appendix to it. Pete Magnetic Key Holder Posted: 02 Apr 2011 04:56 AM PDT I have talked about how unpleasant it is to keep your whole family waiting for you in front of the house just because you can’t find your keys. It’s frustrating and annoying and every time you swear you will find the perfect place where to put the keys and to know exactly where to find them, but you never do.
