Difference between blender and juicer Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:49 AM PDT Some of the common kitchen appliances that are a must in every kitchen are juicers and blenders. These are two different types of appliances that can be used for catering varied purposes. However, a large number of homeowners always post the question that whether they can purchase one of the appliances for catering dual purposes, or is there any significant difference between their performance as well as the end result. This blender is $130. Definition – a blender is an appliance that is useful in liquefying food and other items such as vegetables and fruits. It is operated electrically and items are chopped finely by use of sharp blades spinned at high speed. On the other hand, a juicer is an appliance that is basically used to extract juice from the fruits and vegetables that are fed into the machine.
Function – a blender is much more useful than a juicer as it can be used for varied purposes. Blenders can be used for making smoothies, blending ice for cocktails, making baby food, and even for mixing two or more items consistently. A blender can also be used for slicing and chopping purposes. On the other hand, a juicer can only be used for extracting juice from fruits and vegetables. Firstly, the fruits and vegetables are minutely chopped, and then the liquid is removed from its pulp. This juicer is 375$. End product – As the blender and juicer follow a different functioning process, the end product produced by them is also different. The blender does not separate anything that is fed into it such as peels or seeds. The skin, pith, flesh and seeds are all blended together and as a result, there is a significant presence of fibers. On the other hand, the end product of the juicer is clean juice without any pulp or fibers. The fundamental operation of the juicer is to separate the fibers from the nutritional juice. The pulp and fibers are collected in a different chamber and sieved juice free from fiber trickles out of the spout provisioned on the body of the juicer. Remember that juicer is only functional for items that have high water content. So, if you wish to extract juice from items that are low in water content such as an avocado, tomato or banana, then a juicer will not be of any use to you. |

Artistic stool that defies gravity Posted: 31 Mar 2011 06:04 AM PDT Created by the British designer James Douglas, this unusual stool instantly catches your attention. It's not necessarily because of the details, but mostly because of the very unusual form. The idea was to create something different, something special and impressive and the results speak for themselves. Stools are now more than a simple piece of furniture. The practical aspect of these objects is now complemented by the distinguished form that turns them into art. Stools were always special. Now they are fabulous thanks to the designer's attention for details.
But, even if the shape is outstanding, there is still one aspect that needs some improvement. It's about comfort. Hopefully this problem will be soon solved, without affecting the general appearance, of course. Anyway, if you're looking for something different, perhaps modern and stylish for your home, you should really give this one a chance. It is not just original, it is also made with passion. |
Accessories that every living room should have Posted: 31 Mar 2011 05:10 AM PDT Living room is the focal point of a home and is much more than a place for recreation and relaxation. Every individual wants to decorate his living room in an impressive manner by introducing varied types of accessories so that the room speaks in volume. There is a large variety of accessories available in the market, thereby making the selection of the right accessories a daunting task. If you want to achieve the right balance in your living room, then here is a list of accessories that you must introduce in your living room –
Floor lamps or table lamps – Every living room is incomplete if it does not have floor lamps or table lamps. Lamps are great assistance in illuminating a portion. They can be easily accommodated in any corner of the room, and they allow the room to make a unique statement.
Exciting cushions – needless to be mentioned but every living room houses sofas, chairs and ottomans. However, the living room is assured to look awkward if these seating fixtures are not complemented with exciting cushions. Do not limit yourself to few cushions. Instead, select a gamut of cushions in varied sizes, colors and designs. A tray – another essential item in the living room is a tray. A tray is a great assistance in connecting disconnected objects and making them seem like a collection. It can be placed on the coffee table, corner or even on the chest of drawers. Trays also make it easy to lift everything when you need to clear the space.
Area rugs/carpets – Stylish and exquisite area rugs enhance the décor of a living room and make it look organized, neat and formal. A new dimension and texture are added to the styling of the room, and the room appears complete. Area rug can be introduced in any part of the living room, but it is recommended placing at least one carpet in the seating area. Plant pot at ikea for 1.99$. Plants and plant stands – nothing can inject a sense of life into a room better than a living thing. And when it comes to a living thing, what can be more beautiful than a living green plant in a decorative plant stand? If you think that introducing a plant thing is too much of high maintenance, then you can introduce a pot filled with oversize leaves, flowers and branches. |

Posted: 31 Mar 2011 03:28 AM PDT You've probably seen a lot of sofa designs, some of them traditional, others more modern. But no matter how many you've seen, none of them compares to this one.The Wall Climber- Canape, designed by Lile Lang, is a strong statement about all the things that we are used to do in a certain way without questioning this habits. So just because nobody else thought about this, it doesn't mean that the sofa has to sit parallel to the ground. Of course, this is how they usually sit, but this is not necessarily the only option, as Lile Lang shows us.The almost symmetrical design of this piece allows it to fit corner walls in either direction. A very unusual piece that combines the old- fashioned style with the odd, strange idea of climbing the walls. |
Unusual freefolded paper pendants Posted: 31 Mar 2011 03:11 AM PDT People seem to be more and more attracted to unusual pieces. They tend to get bored by the same old structures, designs and materials, so they search somewhere else. Therefore, it's more difficult to impress them with something like a freefolded paper pendant, when you feel like you've already seen everything there was to see. However, the effect is not totally lost. These three pendants, created by Canadian designer Andrew Ooi, are a nice example of how you can create stylish and original pieces using the most simple materials, in this case the paper. They are all colored in tones of yellow, red and brown, all earthy colors that give a sense of intimacy and peace. You don't have to use uncommon materials or colors to create something unusual. All you need is imagination. Everything else is just details. Andrew Ooi, as we can see, is not afraid to explore. |
How to create a Light and Airy Living Room? Posted: 31 Mar 2011 02:19 AM PDT How do we make our living room light and airy? This is one of the most common questions posted to the interior designers by the homeowners. This is because, people are always in an attempt to create their home a place of haven where they can relax and rejuvenate after a hectic day of work. A light and airy living room is not an impossible task that's hard to achieve. It can be achieved easily. All it requires is to think out of the box and employ your creativity. In addition, you need to give utmost consideration to each and every element of the interiors as every element is known to play a significant role in the ultimate look. Start off with the floor as it is always easy to move upwards. Needless to be mentioned but a light and airy living room simply relates to white flooring. If you get any white flooring installed, then there cannot be anything better than this. On the other hand, if you find wooden flooring appealing, then choose the flooring in a light brown color so that it does not appear heavy.
If you are employing area rugs in the room then avoid choosing area rugs featuring heavy and busy patterns. The excellent selection for creating a light and airy environment would be to select area rugs in white color any other solid pastel shade. Braided area rugs in pastel and light colors also make a good selection. Moving upward from the floor, the furniture pieces should be dressed in light fabrics. Consider using furniture pieces done in light denims and pure cotton, instead of heavy leather, silk or microfiber. If you already have the furniture pieces done in heavy material, you may consider covering them with cotton slipcovers. Similar to the furniture, the window coverings also have to be in light materials. Consider introducing flowy sheer or cotton draperies and bamboo shades hanged from a sleek and simple curtain rod instead of a heavy detailed curtain rod. Lastly, ensure to have your walls dressed in light pastel colors. Pastel colors always make an excellent choice as they easily blend with other colors in the room. On the other hand, if you are using wallpapers, then select wallpaper with a light base color and few big patterns. |
