Posted: 29 Mar 2011 11:21 AM PDT

The style of your home décor and the tidiness of your home can have a huge impact on how you feel. If your home is accentuated with warm décor, it will be inviting to you as well as others. Are you now wondering how to create such a décor?

Well, warm décor can be created by employing different elements. However, the best way to create a warm décor is to use colors. Mind it; we are talking about warm colors. Warm colors are very useful in creating an energizing and rejoicing mood. A room can be easily made cozy and large spaces can be made to appear smaller. In addition, these colors can be used in all parts of home such as the living room, play room, dining room and even bedroom.

Yellow – yellow has always been a color that denotes happiness, warmth and liveliness. As a result, it is one of the most common, rather popular colors introduced by homeowners in their room in various ways. The color is a perfect choice for the kitchen children's room, and living room. However, importance should be given to selection of the right yellow shade. Medium and Light shades should be selected for large expanses such as walls.  Alternatively, yellow color can be introduced by employing accent pieces. For accent pieces, you are free to use any color tone.

Orange- Orange is a stimulating, energetic, spicy and a charged color that can contribute amazingly in creating warm interiors if used properly. As the color is bold, it is recommended to introduce by pairing it with other cool color shades such as green, purple or blue. Deeper orange tones such a nutmeg can be used to dress the walls of a bedroom while peach orange shade with pink can be used to decorate the dining room. Spicy interiors can be created in family room and children room by using dynamic shade of orange.

Red – Red is one the most popular choices for creating a warm environment as the color is stimulating, bold, exciting and dramatic. Red can be used along with blue or pink to give a room a country and a sophisticated feel. The color can also be introduced in the room be selecting the furnishings in varied red tones.

Agatha Suspension Light

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 10:34 AM PDT

Looking at this fine suspension light I had the impression of deja-vu because I associated this lamp with a fine and big bow, you know the ones used for decorating the restaurant for weddings or maybe to wrap the really big presents. So I would have never thought it is actually made of veneer. This Plywood veneer is chemically treated  so as to be able to be bent just like fabric and that is the explanation for the unusual shape and look of the lamp.

It also has a polyester finish that makes the material even more resistant and flexible. It may also have something to do with its extreme easiness to be cleaned and dusted. It is beautiful and original and the design was made by Luis Eslava Studio for LZF in 2009. And even if that happened two years ago the suspension light is still very modern and cool. If you like it you may want to know that it is available in many colours and you can purchase it for $1,632.

How to choose the Right Sofa for Your Room

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 07:56 AM PDT

One of the most essential pieces of furniture found in all homes is sofas. This piece of furniture adds a lot of color to a room and brings the comforting feeling for the family members as well as the guests. Lounging around becomes a pleasant experience and guests can be seated comfortably. However, in order to enjoy the innumerable benefits of the sofa, you have to choose the right sofa for your room. There is a wide variety of sofas available in the market, and there are several factors that should be considered before you make the final selection.

Available space – Walk around the room and see how much and which space is available to hold the sofa. Get a measuring tape and measure the area available. Take into account enough legroom so that people can sit comfortably and also a decent size walkway so that people can walk conveniently.

Size – Think about the size of your sofa in relation to the size of the room. If you have a large room, then placing a big size will definitely look awkward and shall also make the room appear smaller. For small rooms, a love seat, a couch or a small two-seater or elegant plush chairs are a better selection than a single large size couch. Also, it is better to purchase a sofa with open legs as they create the illusion of open and free space.

Function – Think about the function or purpose behind your decision of purchasing a sofa. Would you use it only for seating the guests? Or you plan to lounge and sleep on it when you have friends and siblings visiting you? Do you want the sofa to offer you a storage space? If, you want to use it for sleeping purposes, then invest in a sofa that features a pull-out bed and for storage function, select a sofa that offers storage space below the cushion seats.

Wear and tear – consider the wear and tear the sofa will be a subject to. If you have small children at home who love snacking on the sofa, then do not purchase a leather sofa and instead invest in a sturdy sofa made out of easy to maintain, tough, durable and weather proof fabric or material.

Strange Cube Home in Japan

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 05:27 AM PDT

When it comes to Japan, almost nothing surprises us anymore. However, when you look at this house, you just can't ignore the fact that it has something special, something different and intriguing. Designed by Yuusuke Karasawa Architects, this project is truly impressing.

The exterior design is extremely simple and elegant. Shaped like a cube, this amazing home looks so peaceful and simple … until you go inside. Everything changes one you see the interior. The house is painted entirely in white, so at least the color is not stressful for the eye. But I can't say the same thing about the structure of the interior.

Even though it maintains the geometrical theme that the exterior suggests, it's just too busy. I honestly don't see how anyone could relax in there. In spite of the unifying whiteness present inside, the exterior and the interior of this house are just…very different. They don't go well together.

But, even though it might seem chaotic, at least you'll never get bored in there. You will always find something new. Just be careful not to get lost in those labyrinthic rooms.

Elegant and colorful chair by Tonon

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 03:30 AM PDT

The One for Two chair, designed by the Italian company Tonon, has a … different look, compared to the usual ones. First of all, it has just one leg, if I may call it like that, which is positioned in an asymmetrical manner. It reminds me of the crane and the way he stands in just one leg. It's a very gracious look that really makes this chair stand out.

It has a steel base and an unusual shape that allows it to fold in on itself, just like a fortune cookie. You might not find any wise saying inside, but I don't think that's going to be a problem. The cushion seat is very wide and it almost screams the word "comfortable". You can choose one of the three options: orange, red or white. No matter what color you choose, the effect will be the same. Go out of the box with this unusual, but very comfy chair.
