| Posted: 17 Mar 2011 11:16 AM PDT Most homes have a special letter box where people living in there receive their letters. But sometimes people prefer having a special opening in the front door for the postman to put the letters in. These opening are usually surrounded by some brass plates that make them look fine. I found a special web site where you can see and purchase a lot of different models of brass letter plates for your front door. Here are some models you can admire: Churchill letter plate, Victorian letter plate, a special plate that has the word “letters” on, Picasso letter plate with a knocker, Ashtead gravity letter plate and Georgian rope letter plate and so on.
These letter plates are, of course, made of brass and look very nice because they are sand cast and polished so as to shine and look bright in the sun. All these brass plates are made by a Scottish company that has its headquarters in the heart of Edingburgh and is specialized in manufacturing these products and other similar ones connected to brass and doors. They are called Inbrass and you can find out more about them by simply following this link.
You can now purchase one of these brass letter plates online for a price between £12-97 . There are enough models and prices to choose from, depending on your taste and the dimensions and style of your door and I can assure you that you will certainly find the perfect one for you once you visit their web site. |
| 5 funny furniture pieces by KamKam Posted: 17 Mar 2011 10:55 AM PDT A radical idea from the Korean design studio KamKam. The furniture series they have created is fun, colorful, attractive and, most of all, cute. It would be the perfect design for a kid's room, that is if you are willing to give up this lovely furniture for him.
I have to say, for someone who leaves her clothes all over the room, I could really see myself arranging my t – shirts and pants in this funny cabinets. Just think about this: you could teach your kid to be clean and neat and all you have to do is buy him the right furniture. Not only that it is colorful and fresh, but it is not furniture per se. It's more like a mix between clothes and furniture, between useful and decorative. With furniture like this in the room, there's no way you can stay sad more than 10 seconds. But unless you're willing to buy it, don't show these pictures to your kid, because there's going to be trouble. |
| Different types of garage doors Posted: 17 Mar 2011 09:54 AM PDT Garage are one of the most vital parts of a house, as it is the place used by us to store our vehicles, hardwood tools as well as other miscellaneous items. When it comes to the garage, the most important, rather significant part of the garage is the garage door. It is the garage door which dictates the look of the garage as well as the functionality and safety. If you are looking for a garage door, then you will be delighted that there are various types of garage doors available in the market, catering to different purposes and needs. It is recommended that you should know the varied types available so that a wise selection can be made. Below are the different types of garage doors you may select from –
Roller garage doors – roller garage doors are an ideal option for garages with space problem or houses with short and narrow driveways. The doors are made of narrow strips of aluminum that wrap around a drum positioned above the opening of the door. These garage doors do not have any overhang, swing or reduction in width. The operation of these doors is generally controlled with the help of a remote control. This simply means that you need not leave your car to open the garage door.
Sectional doors – Sectional garage doors are segmented into large subdivisions along the breadth of the door. The sections of the door open upward into the ceiling space of the garage. As the door stays within the frame, the size of the driveway, whether small or big is of no relevance.
Up and over garage doors – as the name implies, up and over garage doors are those doors that first swing towards the driveway and then move up. Once the door is completely open, it is aligned to the ceiling of the garage. However, these doors need some space for their opening and swinging. Henceforth, they are only suitable for garages with long driveways and not short driveways. Swing hung garage doors – swing hung garage doors are very much similar to the traditional doors that are hinged to the opening of the door. Needless to be mentioned but these doors require space in front of the garage so that the door can be opened easily. Therefore, these are not recommended for narrow or short driveways.

| Posted: 17 Mar 2011 05:36 AM PDT Kids are spontaneous and inventive. If you spend a whole day with them you have no chance to get bored. Instead they get bored quickly if they lose their interest in something. All the time you have to give them something to do, to keep them occupied.
Guus Oosterbaan thought of these types of dynamic kids and created Robox.Robox is a series of nine storage boxes for kids. They can store their little toys or other things they need. The boxes can be mounted on the wall and look like a beautiful and funny wardrobe.
These boxes resemble big robots but each box has a unique front, side, backside, top and bottom. Their print is funny colored and unique so that the kids would love them and they can also use them for a game of their own, so they definitely will not get bored. |
| How to arrange furniture in a studio? Posted: 17 Mar 2011 04:44 AM PDT Studio apartments are often tiny spaces of area featuring limited space. In addition, the apartments are also known to get messy and clumsy all the time, especially when there a number of people using the apartment.
1) Start the arrangement of the furniture with the placement of bed as it is one of the most important pieces of furniture. The bed should be placed such that it has utmost privacy and is not visible to the guests entering from the front door. The best solution is to place it in the rear corner of the studio.
2) Create the living space of the studio in the most public are, which is no other area than the area near the front door. Determine a focal point of the living space and arrange the seating around it. For instance, you may have the entertainment center as the focal point, and you may arrange the seating around it. It is always advisable to introduce seating sofas and lounge that allow you to store things within them. Do not forget to introduce a small table and an area rug in the living space so that it looks complete.
3) Arrange the study table or the computer table near the living space or next to the kitchen, depending upon the availability of the space. Place the table or desk in such a way that it either faces the window or the room. This creates the essence of spaciousness. 4) Set up the dining table near the kitchen area. This shall provide a high level of convenience and shall also free up space in the rest of the studio area. Try to select a low profile dining table with foldable chairs so that the dining table setup does not appear huge. 5) Separate the varied areas by using room dividers or room screens. Employing open shelf units are also a great way to divide the areas. This is because it allows light and air to pass through them. |
| Outdoor Furniture by Patricia Urquiola Posted: 17 Mar 2011 04:02 AM PDT I have always adored the beautiful summer afternoons which I spent at the country side, in the fresh open air. My beautiful lectures were wonderful relaxing moments under the cool shades of the trees, enjoying the warm of the sun, the silent atmosphere and the light blue sky.
Patricia Urquiola thought of these outdoor splendid moments and designed outdoor furniture which suites these rustic places too. She creates some seats collections called "Crinoline", Canasta" and "Ravel" but which can be used for interiors too.All these collections have a common characteristic. The designer uses the woven patterns for each of them. The" Crinoline" collection is made of small armchairs and armchairs which have different shapes, heights and there are used different materials. This outdoor furniture is modern, comfortable and creates a relaxing atmosphere.
The "Canasta", a Spanish word which means "basket" is also the name of another collection that uses the woven pattern which looks like a basket design.
This repetitive design reminds you of a rustic atmosphere although they look so modern."Ravel" is a collection which includes modular pieces of furniture that are made of two parts. The woven pattern is also present but this time it refers to a woven polyethylene back of the seat.
All these collections remind me of a rustic, warm atmosphere combined with modern materials and designs. |
| Beautiful 111 square meters house Posted: 17 Mar 2011 03:29 AM PDT This exquisite and beautiful apartment house in Stockholm is simply breath taking. The interiors are lavish and spacious. Designing is very modern and hip. The den is made up in shades of brown with a book case adorning one wall. The balcony is also well decorated and overlooks the busy streets and snow capped houses . If you have a look at the plush kitchen and appliances, you will not be disappointed – A black kitchen slab looks exotic in an otherwise white theme. High chairs make up the furniture in the small kitchen area. The dining area is simply stunning – with a red and white stripped wallpaper with a lovely work of art adorning the main wall. Everything is color co-ordinated and very much in sync with the overall theme. The interiors are so superb. It makes this place look like a palace.
This is really a tranquil place to live, and yet, only a few steps away from it all. |
| Chic leather doors and window frames Posted: 17 Mar 2011 03:12 AM PDT When you think of doors or windows you inevitably imagine something lain, simple, maybe in wood or steel. However, this doesn't mean that you have to be satisfied with this option. There's always room for better.
Let's take a look at this design that the Italian company "Tonin" proposes. The idea of using leather to wrap the doors and the window frames is not bad at all. Actually, it's a very good idea. It's both aesthetically charming and benefic for the structure of the home as well as for the persons living inside it. The visual impact is a very strong one. The unexpected look and feel and the vibrant colors are just a few more reasons why you should choose to have them in your home. Enough with the boring and predictable doors! I don't know if the creators thought about this, but it is actually a great way to childproof your doors and windows by using a soft type of leather. You don't have to worry anymore that the kids would trap their hand between the door and the frame. That's actually quite clever. |
