| How to choose the perfect refrigerator? Posted: 23 Feb 2011 10:35 AM PST One of the most integral appliances that are a must in every house is refrigerators. These days, electronic manufacturers are launching new models with new features, and as a result, the task of choosing the perfect refrigerator has not only turned confusing but also tedious.
It is very vital to choose a refrigerator wisely, because it is a long term investment, and it shall be part of your home for many years. Whether you are purchasing a basic refrigerator for general needs or one to meet specific needs of you and your family, there are several factors that should be considered.
Let me provide you a set of instructions to choose the perfect refrigerator – Size of the family and refrigerator – Needless to be mentioned but first of all, you need to ascertain the size of the family. The larger the family size, the larger the refrigerator needs to be. In certain situations, lifestyle should also be considered. You might have a small family, but if you host dinner parties frequently, then very soon you shall be frustrated with a small refrigerator. Available space – Secondly, determine the available space for the refrigerator. Measure the available space in terms of width and height.
Determine the style that works best for you – There are basically three types of refrigerators for you to choose. The types include side by side refrigerator, bottom freezer refrigerators and top freezer refrigerators. Among these top freezer refrigerators are the most popular options. Bottom freezer refrigerators feature freezer at the bottom and are hence suitable for family with elderly people who have difficulty in bending. On the other hand, side by side refrigerators work best in small kitchens with limited space.
Energy Label – Look for an energy label on all the models of refrigerators you consider. The label shall tell you the energy consumption of the appliance during a year. Compare the consumption rate between different models. It goes without saying that the perfect refrigerator would be one that consumes the least amount of electricity. Remember that top freezer refrigerators consume almost 10 to 25 percent less electricity than other two types. In addition, refrigerator with 16 to 20 cubic feet is the most energy efficient size. Always purchase a refrigerator that has features you desire but do not forget with an increase in features, the price of the appliance shall also increase. |
| Rainbow Wall Stickers for the Kids Room Posted: 23 Feb 2011 09:50 AM PST My little daughter is totally crazy about rainbows and I started all this madness without intention. It all began when I read a story for her, a story with some white butterflies that flew through the rainbow and then painted their wings with the colours from the rainbow. Of course, little girls love butterflies and the rainbow, too, so she insisted she had one such nice rainbow painted in her room. She even wanted to make one herself with crayons on the wall. Fortunately I caught her in the act and I could only stop her by promising to do things in a more professional manner and make the kids room look really nice. So I immediately thought of purchasing some wall stickers. I know it’s really easy to paint one, but I’m not that gifted, so it was easier for me to purchase one.
No, I did not know such stickers could be purchased from the online stores until then. But apparently there are a lot of different models with everything, including a wide variety of rainbow stickers. The price is different a bit , depending on the store, size and sticker quality. So you can buy this mushroom rainbow above for example for only 5 euro, the one with stars and rainbow and clouds in the third picture for about $99, the rainbow clouds in picture 4 for about $39 and a whole bunch of offers right here. Good luck for the purchase and may your life be colourful like a rainbow.

| Posted: 23 Feb 2011 09:28 AM PST Technology has evolved a lot lately, maybe too much in some fields. For example the environment was very much affected by people’s actions and they did not do something good for it. All this industry produced a lot of dangerous elements that spread into the air, soil and water and lead to what we call pollution. Even the paint that we use on the house walls is sometimes very dangerous for us, people, and for the air we breathe. Experts say that we should all use eco-friendly paints because they are safe for the environment.
That is because normal paints are obtained artificially and not from natural products, so they have heavy metals in their composition and the fumes they emit when left uncovered or when they are use don the walls, the air right next to this paint is affected and polluted. And there have been a lot of cases of people that got intoxicated because of the lead in the wall paints. But these are just a few of the negative effects of normal paints and I felt it myself when I painted my room without opening the window and I almost fainted. As a consequence there are some producers that offer us an alternative and give us naturally obtained products. One of them is Painted Earth and all the paints produced by them are totally safe and result in a clean environment and a healthier life.

| Kuala Lumpur Railway Station – an Architectural Jewel Posted: 23 Feb 2011 02:22 AM PST Architecture is very important in the structure of a city because it affects the public image and reflects people’s opinions about that particular place. Nice and original architecture can attract lots of tourists and improve the trade and life in a certain area. Well, I am the best example: I copnsider myself a pretty informed person, but I only know that Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s capital … and the fact that it has a great railway station, built in an original style.
First of all this railway station is white and I simply love white buildings, as they make the whole city around look clean and fresh. Then it looks more like a palace than a railway station and combines many architectural styles, resulting in a very original yet pleasant looking building. It was opened to the public in 1886, rebuilt in 1910 and electrified in 1995. Of course it looks a lot different from what it was in the beginning, because it served only four lines with three platforms at first, now having a real web of lines in all directions. It added some wings in time and combines in a very successful manner the Western with the Oriental architectural style.
Specialists say that it was primarily designed in a “Raj” style, meaning a combination of European and American elements from the beginning of the 19th century with elements of Mughal or Indo-Saracenic architecture. The building is characterized by the large towers built in a Malayan traditional way , having the facade of the station completely plastered and the platforms covered with glass shelters supported by steel frames. If you visit this station you will feel like the past and the present have met there and also the West and the East.

| Posted: 22 Feb 2011 09:31 PM PST Many people drink a glass of wine every day or maybe on occasions. But not all of them or us are wine lovers or collectors. However some people have a real passion for wine, collecting valuable wine bottles from all over the world. This exquisite Don Vino wine table is an exclusive product of Chicone Cabinetmakers and it was inspired by the shape and material of the oak barrels that are used for storing wine in the underground cellars in the big wineries.
The legs of the wooden table are rounded, imitating the round shape of the barrels perfectly. The upper part of the table is round, too and it is covered with glass in order to allow those sitting round the table to see its contents. And sometimes these contents are really valuable because the table has some special places for storing wine bottles. You simply introduce the wine bottle in the round openings situated in the table. That is possible because the table top is wider than usual. But you can admire the original design in the pictures and , if you like what you see and want to purchase such an item, you can purchase it for $2,400.

| Posted: 22 Feb 2011 08:48 PM PST Flowers are one of my few passions and I think they are a very nice way of decorating your home. They are nice looking and delicate and they make you happier just looking at them. Any way, it is a lot easier to take care of your flower pots because you can simply take them out in the garden, on the porch or hang them on the walls of your house and even on the terrace or on the balcony – if you live in a flat. However, things get a lot more complicated in winter because you have to take them inside and find the proper spot for this. That is why I recommend using iron flower pot stands.
These flower pot stands are perfect for placing the pots there in any corner of the house without affecting the furniture (because of the dampness and eventual water spills) and without the constant fear that you will trip over them if you place them on the floor. Besides, the flower pot arrangement will look a lot better if there is a pattern, a certain metal skeleton to support all the flower pots. You can find these stands in the specialized stores and even on the Internet, in the online stores. They are not that expensive and you can be so lucky as to find extremely inspired models. You can make them yourself if you are good at it and have the necessary means, as it’s not so complicated to do this. Here are some models you can get inspiration from.

| Built in Staircase in Minimalist House in Portugal Posted: 22 Feb 2011 08:23 PM PST If you live in a house with at least the ground floor and first floor you will certainly need the stairs to get to the first floor. And the whole aspect of your house interior is affected a great deal by the way in which these stairs look. They look different if they are made of cement, wood, bricks and so on. You can use this to improve your home appearance with little money if you have some imagination. Today I will present the idea of two young and creative architects (Ana Vieira and Ricardo Freitas): the built in staircase that looks like it is floating.
The staircase is zig-zaging from the ground floor to the first floor and is made of hard polished wood that is afterwards lacquered , looking very nice against the totally white interior of the PAC house in Portugal the architects from A+R Arquitectos were decorating. The end of the boards is built in the wall and the entire stair is suspended in the air, giving the floating effect. Because nobody wants some unfortunate accidents in the house, there is a nice modern white metal bar at the edge of the stairs that can be used to hold on to while climbing up the stairs. It looks like a giant Z and goes uninterrupted from the ground floor up, enhancing the modern look of the staircase.
