| Difference between lcd and plasma tv Posted: 20 Feb 2011 08:14 AM PST Televisions are not to be brought every year. They are long term investments and provide valuable service for an innumerable number of years. When shopping for a television, a basic knowledge of the current trends and technologies is a vital factor to the process.
Difference between Liquid crystal display (LCD) and Plasma television is one factor that should be well researched before the final decision of the type of television to be purchased is taken. Both, LCD TV and Plasma TV make use of flat screen technology, and this is what makes it difficult to tell the difference between the two.
Liquid crystal display television commonly known as LCD TV is a flat, thin electronic display that makes use of the properties of liquid crystals to work. On the other hand, plasma television works through a series of cells that traps xenon and neon gas in plasma form to emit light.
When a plasma set is switched on, electricity charges the plasma cells, and thus the image is created. Whereas when a LCD TV set is switched on, light from fluorescent bulb shines through the crystals and thus the image is created. In terms of size, plasma televisions are available in large sizes. They are generally available in a size of 42 inches onwards. They provide accurate colors and sharp image, and this is due to the high contrast ratio. On the other hand, the size of LCD televisions varies between 5 inches and 65 inches. As a result, LCD screens can be used as a computer monitor also. In addition, LCD televisions offer much brighter image in comparison to plasma televisions, and this is due to the provision of ultra backlighting. They are no lingering or ghost images also.
LCD televisions are light weight, compact, less expensive, more reliable, portable, and easier on the eyes. They are energy efficient and consume less energy in comparison to plasma televisions. The angle viewing convenience in plasma television is much more superior in comparison to LCD televisions, as there is almost no fading at all from off side angle. On the other hand, faded view from extreme angles is a common feature associated with LCD televisions. Another significant difference between plasma television and LCD television is their reflectivity. Plasma televisions feature high reflectivity due to their glass screens. On the other hand, LCD televisions do not reflect so much because of their matte plastic screen. |
| Pivo Storage Tray by Jason Nip Posted: 20 Feb 2011 03:08 AM PST I have all the necessary furniture that you usually see in a house, but I always have trouble with storing the little things that appear in the house. I do have some shelves in the kitchen and in the bathroom, but I was looking for something more handy that can store these little things but also keep them out of the reach of children. So I found this interesting Pivo storage tray at Umbra.
This tray has three round layers that glide to the side, leaving you access to any of the three drawers. It is white and made of acrylic, being designed by Jason Nip. It looks very nice and can be used in any of the rooms in your house. You can use it in your room to keep there the small jewels, bracelets and cotton balls you use for removing the make-up, but you can also use it in the bathroom for storing such small items like cotton swabs, little brushed, unused soap, washing gloves etc. You can now purchase it for about $20, which is a very good price for this useful item.

| Pocono Palace – the Hotel with a Huge Glass Champagne Bathtub Posted: 20 Feb 2011 02:35 AM PST I know Valentine’s Day is already gone, but I think love can and should be celebrated all year long. It’s a beautiful feeling and it’s worth being dedicated special places. Like this wonderful hotel in Pennsylvania, USA, called Poconos Hotel. This hotel is made especially for lovers. Every detail is thought to please the customers who come with their loved ones, their spouses or girlfriends there to spend some quality time there as a couple.
But many other hotels have honeymoon suites or special rooms for Valentine’s Day. However, this hotel is special because it has something unique to offer: it’s a huge bathtub that is shaped like a champagne glass and that is made for two. It even has a long leg that is specific to any champagne glass. And you can have a nice hot bubbling bath in that special shaped bathtub together with your spouse, looking at things from the height. Of course, there’s also a heart-shaped jacuzzi and together, these two special things make your journey there really pleasant and romantic and will make you in the mood for love.

| Flatiron Building – a New York Landmark Posted: 20 Feb 2011 01:28 AM PST If you watch any American movie whose action takes place in New York, anywhere near Manhattan, you will certainly see a triangular shaped building that you can recognize as interesting and unusual. It’s the Flatiron building and it is now one of New York’s landmarks. It is situated at the intersection of Broadway with Fifth Avenue and it is one of the oldest sky scrapers in New York. This project was completed in 1902, after the architect Daniel Burnham was appointed to draw the plans for the future building. And the original name of the building was Fuller building, being an office building.
But the actual “father” of Flatiron was Amos Eno who owned a three stories building in Manhattan and dreamed about having a skyscraper in its place. He was the one to bring Daniel Burnham from Chicago and start the whole project. But it was only in 1902 that this gorgeous building was finished. The architect imagined it as a Renaissance palazzo, as he called it, but only on vertical, not horizontal as they had been built until then. He used the Beaux-Arts style to confer it a bourgeois air and style. This building was very different from all the other skyscrapers that were being built at the time in New York, as all the other ones had the shape of a tower , but this one looked more like a Greek column. Nowadays the building is housing offices and it has 22 stories, having a steel skeleton and also steel structures that make it resist the test of time very well. It has been one of the most representative imagines of New York for a long time now.

| Posted: 19 Feb 2011 01:54 PM PST Lighting is very important to a room: it can reveal the best in it or it can make it remain unnoticed if you use an improper lighting system. Even the most beautifully decorated room will remain unknown and unappreciated if the light is too low and dim. Any way – here is a great lighting device or rather a combination of lamps of different colours that you can use to give a unique atmosphere to your living room. The Lux lamp from Lighthouse is now available in 13 colours, so you have a wide variety to choose from.
These lamps are amazing, as they are cylindrical or square and cast the light from both sides. You can place them on the ceiling, but also on the walls and arrange a real light show, as they rotate 360 degrees. The guys from Lighthouse, which is a company from Iceland, are responsible for both designing and manufacturing the Lux lamp. As usual, the simple things are the best. I might love to see a twelve arms chandelier in the pictures, but I would like to have a Lux lamp in my home.
