Wagon Wheel Chandelier

Every time I go to the mountains I prefer staying in a rustic hostel where I feel more “at home” than in a pretentious five stars hotel. And one of these times I saw a very well designed living room, where the lady of the house used every piece of rustic devices to construct a very nice and yet modern environment. I mean they used everything from a real wagon wheel as a chandelier to traditional pottery as flower pots and … you use your imagination for the rest. Any way, I was pretty curious if you could only do such a thing by yourself or it could be possible to purchase it on the Internet and, to my surprise, I found out that you could. Actually there are more models to choose from, but I liked this one best.

This amazing chandelier is made, as you have already inferred of a real wagon wheel which can be fixed to the ceiling with a stylized chain. Of course in the past they used this kind of chandelier with wax candles, but now these use electric light bulbs instead. But they are very well hidden inside six very nice-looking glass hurricanes. It looks perfectly traditional and works perfectly fine at the same time. You can purchase this product on Amazon for a price between $400 and 900.

Stools are very simple , yet very useful things. The first image of a stool appeared in my mind when my grandma told me stories back when I was a child. Now I use stools when I go to the pub and sit at the bar or when I play the piano or, why not, when I come home after a long day at work and rest my feet on a stool. But these stools are not the same. They do not even have the same shape. The Morph Stool for example is a great stool with tall elegant feet that was designed by Formstelle and which can be used very well as a bar stool. Its base in in American walnut or solid oak and offers the perfect shape for your back. The back is protected by the short backrest made of the same material.

How to Turn the Attic into Your Study

When I was a student I used to study at night. It was more quiet and I could learn better when everybody else was sleeping. The only problem was that we were a big family, so every room in the house was already taken and somebody slept in it, so the only option remained the kitchen, which was a bit uncomfortable for reading and learning. I had to carry all my stuff there every evening and back to my and my sister’s room in the morning. Plus, I did not have everything I needed there – all my instruments like maps and computer and everything. The same thing repeated when I grew up and had my own family. So I really wanted to have my own private study room or office or whatever you want to call it. And one day I had a great idea: why wouldn’t I use the attic and turn it into my study? So I did and based on my experience I thought I’d share some things with you.

The first thing to do is consider the purpose you want the study for. For example if you want it for practicing the piano or violin, you should sound proof it first, prior to the project of changing its destination. Then, if you want it for studying and working on the computer, you should consider supplying a reasonable number of plugs and also cables, an economic lighting and the necessary desk and shelves. SO you need to make all the preparations before getting installed there. If you want to be sell stuff and intend to bring your friends over, make sure you build an outer entrance to the attic, directly from the yard and also purchase some very comfortable sofas. Please make all the right measurements as the geometry of the attic is a lot different from any other room because of the roof which takes a big part of your future study.

Do not buy the furniture unless you attentively measure all the dimensions or you can have unpleasant surprises. Consider the roof angle, too. Since the study will be located in the attic, it would be a good idea to build some skylights there in order to use the light from the sun as much as you can. Place some plants there, too, as the climate is perfect for them in the attic. One last thing before you start arranging it as a study: make sure it is perfectly insulated or else you risk getting sick every time you stay there and this is not OK.  It is also important to have some heating source during the winter, too. After you do all these things, you can start purchasing the furniture, shelves , carpet and everything else you need and design the room to be as nice as possible.

Usually the dynamic people love all kind of actions, adventures, activities. They like to move a lot and do not stick in one place too much.

They are curious, want to see and discover many things. They love all that suppose to show or generate action.In case that their dynamic personality will dominate the design of their house then we will not be surprised if we notice such kind of armchair in their house.

It is an armchair that looks aggressive and we cannot associate it with a quiet, static atmosphere. It will definitely impress everyone who will see it and make them want to sit on it.

Its shape looks like a bomb. It fits to a nice atmosphere just between friends where "explosive" subjects can be shared. The fact that, we can sit on a "bomb" make us looks untouchable and destructive.

It’s not that easy to design furniture, but designing kids furniture is even more difficult. The furniture designed for the children must be both attractive for them and also functional. You must use bright colors in order to make them love it, but at the same time do not use more than three colors, as this will distract them and make them tired without an apparent reason. Designers know that they must also respect the size to be perfect for kids, so they stay away from big pieces of furniture. Such an imaginative designer is Thomas Wold who has just finished working on Rock Candy project. This is a big cabinet that the kids can use for storing their books, toys, crayons and whatever they use every day.

As you can see, the cabinet has more compartments that have different colors and shapes, one of them even having an opening in the shape of a flower. This way the kids can store various things in different compartments and this makes the furniture more pleasant. Just make sure you fix it very well to the wall in order to avoid the eventual accidents. Have fun!

Remote Controlled Light Bulb

Technology has advanced so much lately that I can’t even remember the times when I watched my TV and I changed the channels manually, as there were no remote controls back then. It’s all part of our everyday life now and we are so used to all these technological gadgets that make our life easier that we could not imagine living without them. Remote controls seem to be our favorite objects in the house and we sit comfortably in our armchair operating all the things around us without having to ever stand up. The best example is the remote controlled light bulb.

It is a very modern light bulb that can have different colors and intensity and which can be controlled by remote control. You can use it as a stand alone gadget or you can use more such light bulbs in a series to get a spectacular visual effect in your home.
