Wooden clothes rack for kids from P’kolino

Posted: 31 Dec 2010 06:52 AM PST

Kids are such a joy, but they also make your life a lot more complicated than it used to be. Well, you have to consider their needs and perspectives every time you make a purchase and you must also consider if they like the thing or not. For example every piece of furniture for their room needs to fit their size, so think about that. For example when you want to buy a clothes rack for the kids room you should choose a special one, like this one from P’kolino. It is perfect for kids because it is small,. so they can reach the top of it while standing, it is made of wood and has rounded edges, so they do not risk getting hurt while hanging clothes in it.

This nice looking wooden rack from P’kolino is made especially for children and its most important feature is safety. It looks like a stylized tree with many bigger and smaller branches the children will use for hanging their coats. The price of this piece of furniture may vary a bit, depending on the online store that sells it, so you can purchase it for a sum between $50 and 100 if you follow these links: Bizrate, Nextag, Baby crib station, Bakati and Maxbaby. As you can see from the pictures they are available in different colors.

Interesting candle holders

Posted: 31 Dec 2010 01:52 AM PST

New Year’s Eve is a special occasion for you to spend time with friends and the loved ones. SOme of us prefer going to noisy parties with our friends, but some others would rather stay at home or go to a remote hotel and spend a romantic night with the boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse or lover. Well, everybody knows that a romantic night needs some preparation in advance and, besides the champagne and the good food, you also need good music and … candles. Yes, the candle light is so much more romantic than that of light bulbs, so you need to also purchase some nice and preferably original candle holders. Here are some models to choose from and the places where you can order them.

The Capiz Lotus candle holder is perfect for weddings and costs between $10 and 25. Then there are all those beautiful and discreet wall candle holders that cover a bigger area with their light and avoid the danger of being turned over by mistake and cause fires. But table candle holders are equally nice and beautiful. This tribal dance figurine for example is amazing and exotic at the same time. OK, I admit, the baby head candle holder is creepy, but the story-telling tree is absolutely fascinating. I also love the dragon and dungeon, the reindeer and the Viking ship candle holders because they are unique and have innovative designs.

Wine bottle support

Posted: 31 Dec 2010 01:08 AM PST

Drinking wine is a very ancient habit and, as long as you do not exaggerate, it is even beneficial for your health. So many people drink a glass of wine every once in a while after dinner, on special occasions or when they have guests. Some people even enjoy collecting old and precious bottles of wine. Any way, if you have a good wine you can’t simply put it in the fridge or in the closet because it needs to be kept in certain conditions and temperatures. So you need a bottle holder. These wine bottle holders are also very impressive when you have guests and present them the wine in a spectacular support. Here are some ideas of interesting wine bottle support that can be made either of wood or metal.

For example the first model represents the bride and the groom and is the perfect wedding gift, also very funny. You can buy them for $120, and they are handcrafted from recycled steel and copper. The second model is more like a wine bottle rack and can be purchased for about 25 pounds. It is extremely simple and easy to place anywhere in your home. The last model is amazingly simple and you can make it yourself by simply placing 2 thick metal bars in the wood for each bottle you want to store. Just be very precise with the measurements. All the other wooden models are handcrafted and can be found on different web sites.

Funny salt and pepper shakers

Posted: 30 Dec 2010 11:33 AM PST

Normally when you go to the restaurant you look for the salt and pepper and use them so as to make the food to be exactly as you like it. That is because people have different tastes so the cook in the restaurant will avoid making it salty or spicy, so as to please everyone and those who want it a bit spicier can add the extra pepper or salt. Any way we should do that at home, too, especially when we have guests and we do not know their tastes. So always try to find a neutral taste and add the salt and pepper shakers to the table. Here are some ideas of funny such shakers that will make your guests laugh or smile , but notice them.

When you see the shakers in the first picture you must certainly “shake a leg” if you want salt or pepper. The Taste of talking will cost you about $25 but you will enjoy it a lot.

The Samba Salt and Pepper Shakers in picture three and Rippled Salt and Pepper Shakers in picture four are a bit less funny, but rather interesting. But the last three models are absolutely amazing: Hug by Scott Henderson, Dry Bones, $32 or Taste Explosion Salt & Pepper Shakers, $16. Take your time and look at all the models, choose your favorite one and then purchase it from the Internet.

San Andreas Coffee Table by Ricardo Garza Marcos

Posted: 30 Dec 2010 11:04 AM PST

You all know of San Andreas Fault, the place where two tectonic plates meet and collide, one of them constantly going under the other and causing earthquakes. Well, this inspired a very imaginative designer to invent a new original furniture design. This is the San Andreas Table that was designed by Ricardo Garza Marcos. This table look like any other table at first sight. However, if you watch it carefully or try to separate the two halves you will realize the edges of the two halves are irregular, looking like a wooden board broken in two. Actually they the coffee table looks exactly like I have always imagined a tectonic fault -  it is the  three-dimensional replica of San Andreas Fault.

The Mexican designer did not split the table in two just for the sake of making the “fault” appear, but also for functional purposes. When you take apart the two halves of the coffee table you will see a hidden storage space which can be used for depositing small things that you do not want to lose. And nobody will see them or know about it unless you make the “fault” visible.
