African masks as wall decorations

If you want your house to be stylish and special you must add a personal touch to it. That means that you must think about using some unusual objects to decorate it, objects that are not very easy to find and used regularly by other people. So you may think of decorating your living room with African masks. If you also add some other elements of African culture you will get a very nice, though unusual living room.

I suggest you to put these very nice and beautiful African masks on the walls and try to have white walls when you display them because this way you can emphasize the originality and colors of the masks. You don’t even have to purchase original African masks, as you can find very good imitations on the Internet.

And once you have such a mask or maybe two, you can develop a bit and gather some more objects around them, objects that fit the design and then you will have a pretty nice-looking living-room, with African touches. Maybe a black and white overall design of the room will be more appropriate, but you can use some colors that suggest war-paintings, for example fiery red.

Use some rugs that either are natural or imitate very well skin animals or at least suggest them for example a zebra rug or maybe a leopard skin rug. Bring some other African elements like traditional bowls or at least some bowls that are made of palm-tree leaves or any other objects you may think of that fit the picture.

You will see that you will simply love your living room when you finish decorating it and your friends will be delighted.

Funny desk lamps for children

I am always working on my computer and I do that even when my children are watching TV. They do not need the light on for that , but I need some light because I can’t type on my computer keyboard if I can’t see the keys ( I know, I still need some more practice). So I really need a desk lamp for my work as it allows me to work properly and also does not disturb the other people in the room. It focuses the light beam only on my keyboard, so the others can do their regular jobs that do not need light. And here are a few examples of funny desk lamps that I found on the Internet and that you can buy directly from the online shops.

All the lamps that you can see here are funny models, made for children because I can’t afford having very serious or post-modernist lamps as I would love to because I need my kids’ approval as they want to love the lamp, too. So I picked this nice pink model of desk lamp that can also be used as a clock and not any clock , but an old-fashioned alarm -clock. The funny thing is that this clock actually works very well and shoes the exact time.

The next two lamps are very funny kitty desk lamps and they can have different colors. They have the base in the shape of a kitten head and have one LED to light a small portion around the lamp.

The last model presented today is a desk lamp in the shape of a little boy that works on batteries. These batteries last for 7 hours if you use the 7 LED lighting and for only 8 hours if you use the 15 LED lighting. So you can adjust the power of the light and this way save batteries.

Sometimes, when you feel your living room or your office is a bit too boring and you want something to bring a bit of color in it and also to make a statement about the owner, you’ d better purchase an original piece of furniture that will draw everybody’ s attention and will also make you feel really well – like a personality or something similar.

These red leather chairs that you can see here are designed by Pasquale Natuzzi, an Italian designer that specialized in producing this kind of furniture. Actually this is a whole company, a concern that was founded by Natuzzi. You can see all the models on their official web site and maybe you can find there some other models, too. The best combination if to bring one of these chairs in an office where the predominant color is black. Or maybe in a black and white living room. This will take away the monotony of seeing only one or two colors around and looks very nice in contrast. This particular shade of red is perfect for bringing some passion into your home or office. All chairs are comfortable and you can stay there sitting on it for hours, as the cushion is soft and you can even lie on your back.

Thanksgiving wreath for the doorway

Thanksgiving Day is almost near and many people are still looking for the last minute things they need to decorate their homes for this special holiday. Well, Thanksgiving wreaths for the doorway seem to be really popular this year , too, and more and more people prefer buying them directly instead of spending a lot of time trying to make one with their own hands. Though this is not as difficult as you may think.

First of all you need a strong wire or steel frame for the wreath and then you can add all the other decorations. Basically they are fruit and vegetables and leaves that are specific to this season – the late fall, and which are all colored in orange, yellow, green or brown. This combination of colors is perfect for the arrangement you need, so you can collect natural leaves from the yard and place them in the empty spots in between two vegetables or fruits.

Tie everything really tight with some fishing rod – it is perfect because it is invisible when you use it for tying the veggies together and it is also very strong and resistant and you will not have the unpleasant surprise of gathering all the components of your wreath from the entire hallway.

If you do not want too much trouble you can simply use some berries together with some of their natural bush branches , tie them in a circle and the wreath will be ready. And if you lack the skills or the time – then go to the store and buy one and try again next year.

iCarta iPod dock and toilet roll dispenser

The young generation seems to be addicted to music and gadgets. Everywhere you go you see young people listening to music on their iPods and they simply can’t live without them, carrying these little gadgets all over the place – in the park, in the subway, in the library and even in the … bathroom. Yes, it’s true. Even when they go in there, they take their iPod with them and listen to their favorite music while having a bath or doing something else. So the guys from Apple thought of a gadget that makes it possible for iPods to be placed in the bathroom in a safe place and this is the iCarta.

This gadget is a combination between a toilet paper dispenser and a docking station for your iPod. This way the iPod will not stay on the floor or in any other place that is not safe and can cause damage to it and it charges its battery at the same time, just like it were connected to a wall plug dock.

Besides, the two sides of the toilet paper dispenser have built-in stereo speakers that are water resistant and are not affected by the steam in the bathroom and can also offer a high quality sound.

I admit I was skeptical about the veridicity of this piece of news when I read it in the Daily News, so I looked for this item on the official Apple web site. As I could not find anything there I thought that maybe this item could be produced by some company that only provides the dock and has nothing to do with Apple. So I found the product on Amazon, where you can buy it for $110. But I still do not believe it is made by Apple, but by some Chinese company that has crazy ideas.

Guitar shaped swimming pool

That people have swimming pools in their yards is no surprise or unusual fact. But when they are uniquely shaped for example as guitars it may be unusual enough to attract visitors. For example Spence Manor used to be a hotel of suites that was once famous for having Elvis Priestley as a guest there while he was recording music in Tennessee.

The building is right across the street from Country Music Hall of Fame, so the owner at that time thought it would be a good idea to build a pool that was shaped like a guitar in order to attract tourist to come and visit. Nowadays it just belongs to the complex of condominiums and can be used by those who live there. However it is famous all over the country and many movie people from Hollywood came here to shoot a few sequences for their movies.

Ye architecture is perfect and in detail because there are even the chords and the image of that round opening in the guitar that are painted in black at the bottom of the swimming pool to look just like a guitar when seen from above. This is what I call an homage to music.
