Kids Train Bed

Posted: 30 Oct 2010 01:02 AM PDT

All children love stories and cartoons and they would give anything to have the chance to bring a piece of this fantastic world into their homes, into their rooms to be more precise. And what piece of furniture can be more important in a child’s room than the bed? So it is really funny to get a very funny bed for your kid, one that is less conventional and looks like the things the kids like in the cartoons. I suggest this pretty nice looking kids train bed that looks like a train , but it’ s really a very comfortable bed.

You can order it at  Cool Kids Furniture for a price of $2,588.78. I know it looks a bit expensive, but there are other details you should know about it. For example this train is made on order, as there is no series production. It is specially designed and made so as to be perfect for a child with the age between two and six and also the material is carefully chosen to be high quality. The wood is covered with a pleasant color of lead free paint, in order to avoid any toxic contact for the child’s skin. Most of it is hand made and , if you have some ideas and want to customize it , for example choosing a particular color or shape or the application of different ornaments, you can do that and your train bed will have it all on delivery.

So how about giving your kid a wonderful gift for their room?

One hundred triangles stool

Posted: 29 Oct 2010 02:40 PM PDT

I know that imagination is what separates us from the rest of the animals, but sometimes people use it only to create unusual things that have no sense of usefulness. Let’s take for example the following chair that was designed by some guy called Ricardo Bovo and whose pictures were published on his web site. It is called the “one hundred triangles stool” and is indeed … a stool made of a hundred triangles. These triangles are generated randomly by a computer algorithm and then they are each cut in wood using a highly performing laser.

All the pieces of wood that now have the shape of a triangle are carefully printed with a specific code consisting of a letter and a number that helps the creator find their place in the whole ensemble and then all the pieces are linked together by using cable ties on the sides. The pictures that show the two stools where the author used glue instead of these ties are just models made of paper or cardboard that will be used afterwards for the wooden component pieces. Any way, the result is a very unusual stool that looks interesting and can be considered a work of art from my point of view, because it is something unique and draws your attention and also this Ricardo guy really spends a lot of time doing this. It looks nice, too, but only as an exhibit, as I wouldn’t dare sit on it.

Lost and found and recycled, too

I am sure you all remember the famous scene from the movie “Gone with the wind” when Scarlett O’Hara made a dress out of the curtains just because she did not have something else to wear at an official meeting. Well, the human mind is innovative and many times we use our imagination to create very useful objects and even art from things that were ready to be thrown in the garbage.

Not only do we recycle them this way , but we also use them to embellish our homes and turn them into pleasant places to live in where guests are welcomed and surprised by some unusual looking pieces of furniture or lighting. Today I will present a very cool collection of lamps that are made of lost and found tableware. Some creative guys from Oddbirds combined these cups and plates and some other tableware pieces in an unusual and unique way and obtained … lamps.

They are all unique and look very delicate, carefully arranged to fit perfectly on top of each other. Plus, they are fully functional and spread a warm light in the room.

They can be connected to a normal wall plug, but the cord is wrapped in a textile fibre, which is also unusual, but eco-style. Each lamp has a girl’s name and a predominant colour and I would honestly love one in my living-room.
