| Hedgehog lamp – safe for the kids Posted: 23 Jul 2011 11:09 AM PDT Lamps are very useful, as they provide us the light we need to move around the house at night or to read a book or to do whatever other activity we might think of when it is dark outside. Well, normally we use pendant lights that hang from the ceiling in order to cast their light all over the room, but there are plenty of times when we only need light in a certain part of the room. So we use lamps. And when these lamps are lit for a longer time they become really hot and can even cause accidents if you have some curious kids around the house. However, there are some clever guys who considered this aspect and succeeded to manufacture safe lamps for the kids that also have a very funny and attractive shape of animals, for example this hedgehog lamp. This cute lamp was designed by Ramin Razani for Zzzoolights from Italy. It is made of polypropylene, so it’s perfectly safe for the kids, as it does not turn too hot. The explanation is that it uses a cool-lighting and low-energy saving compact florescent light source. You can purchase the item now for $80. |
| Posted: 23 Jul 2011 07:30 AM PDT Countryside is a place that offers you fresh air, calm atmosphere and lot of nature. Here you may try the natural food made of fresh vegetables or other natural and healthy ingredients. It is a place where you can forget about the crowded traffic, the noisy town and the dusty atmosphere. The beautiful landscapes, the fresh air and the peacefulness that dominates the entire surroundings create a real oasis of relaxation and good mood. Personally, I love the moments when I walk in the garden with my bare feet and feel the coolness and softness of the fresh grass. It relaxes me and makes me feel great.I may feel even greater if I try to create this original DIY Sod Sofa in my garden. It is a sod- upholstered couch that can offer you wonderful and relaxing moments of coolness and comfort.
If you are interested in this type of project all that you need is some grass, soil and plate. These are the main materials that you will need so that you can create your own oasis of relaxation and comfort. The same goal had a grass couch set up in the middle of the desert which was seen in Black Rock City, Nevada by the author of this project. You can share this entire comfortable place with your family or friends while you enjoy a fine barbeque or picnic.{found on dornob} |
| How to use graffiti in your home Posted: 23 Jul 2011 03:56 AM PDT I think graffiti is more than a simple way of spending your time when you are bored, trying to draw crazy things on the walls of deserted buildings. I think many of the people drawing these graffiti pictures are really talented and this is the way they show their art, just like Michelangelo or Picasso. So I was wondering if anyone ever thought of using graffiti as a way to decorate their homes, to make them unique and to portrait their beliefs and tastes. Well, to my surprise, I found that there are some graffiti artists that use furniture as their support for the graffiti works. One of the web sites where you can admire and purchase their works is Urbankind.
You will find here many gorgeous pieces of furniture that are decorated with graffiti drawings and turned into post modernist works of art for your bedroom or living room. You can choose one of these interesting pieces, the one that represents you more or maybe fits your house, and bring a certain personal touch to your house. I suggest this combination only if you have a modern minimalist home with very few colours and white walls because otherwise it can be too much and the overall effect won’t be very good. Any way, except for the graffiti painted furniture , you can also try to use graffiti on the wall directly, hiring a graffiti artist or maybe performing the painting yourself if you are pretty good at it. Get some inspiration from these pictures and see what you can do with a white wall, some nice graffiti sprays, a lot of talent and imagination. |
| How to clean your home so as to get rid of mites Posted: 23 Jul 2011 01:01 AM PDT House mites are very small microorganisms that live in the dust. And you can find plenty of dust in every home. And since many children and people nowadays are allergic to dust mites, you’d better clean your home so as to get rid of these mites. Here are a few tips that can help you eliminate the house dust and this way the mites, too.Usually the dust so the mites hide in pillows, carpets, sofa cushions, heavy curtains and even bed sheets. So these are the ones you should clean first and change regularly. - The first step when cleaning your house is to open the windows widely and let the air come it for at least half an hour every day, even in winter. This takes the stale air out and also the dust when you are vacuuming with the windows open. - Then vacuum every day because this way you take the dust out of the carpets.
- It’s a very good idea to take your rugs and carpets to the dry cleaners every few months. In the meantime use a brush and some water with some carpet detergents to clean the surface every week. - Change the bed sheets once a week and wash them at high temperatures. This kills all the germs and mites. - Always keep your clothes inside wardrobes because this way they are away of dust. If you just leave them on the chair they will be covered in a thin layer of dust in no time. - Wash the fluffy toys regularly and also the sofa cushions. - Use non allergenic pillows because the pillows stuffed with feathers are the perfect environment for mites. - Mites love a hot and humid environment, so do the opposite and keep your house dry and cool, with a constant temperature around 20 degrees Celsius. - Wash the curtains regularly and try to keep your house clean and I can assure you this way you will keep dust mites away from your house. |
