Leaves, Gutters, and Protecting Your Roof

A homeowner’s work is seemingly never done. Just when you finish raking up the leaves on the ground, you realize you also have a ton of new leaves up on the roof. Rhode Island (RI) homeowners know this scenario all too well. Gutters, the gutter guard, roofing: RI residents have their hands full trying to keep leaves off of and out of these important areas. But doing so is extremely important, and not just to keep your home looking nice or to protect your roofing. RI homeowners whose roofs, gutters, and gutter guards are layered with leaves are putting their entire homes at great risk.

What’s So Dangerous About Leaves?
When there are leaves on the roofing, RI homeowners risk having water settle under the leaves and cause roof and attic damage and leaks. Leaves in and on the gutter guard or gutters can cause the same problems, and then some. When leaves settle into gutters, they form clogs. These clogs prevent water from flowing properly through the gutters and downspouts, so the water sits in the gutters and slowly causes rust to form. The rust erodes the gutters, undermining their structural integrity and causing pitting, holes, and cracks to form.

Once the gutters are weakened in this way, especially if the clogs are allowed to remain, the gutters are headed for failure. When the temperature drops and that water freezes, the weakened gutters are more likely to crack, buckle, and even break apart or away from the house. This can cause damage to the gutter guard, side of your home, and the roofing. RI in winter is no time to have this kind of catastrophe.

Additionally, when leaves build up on a mesh gutter screen type of gutter guard, rainwater simply cannot enter the gutters, so it sheets off the roof and saturates the ground closest to your home. This can cause foundation leaks, basement floods, and even sinkholes. All this from leaves.

What To Do
Periodically throughout the year, at the end of autumn, and after every major storm, it’s a good idea to have an inspection of your gutters, gutter guard, and roofing. RI homeowners who establish good working relationships with a reliable service provider will find that adding this one service to their home’s maintenance plan can ultimately save them thousands in repairs, insurance deductibles due to claims, and the inevitable increased insurance rates those claims can cause.

When I am very tired I just want to have a long hot bath and relax there in the water until I feel better and ready to face life again. Just like me many other people like relaxing in the bathtub. And in order to make the atmosphere even more relaxing and calm, you should also dim the lights. Again some people prefer using candles instead of the strong light of the light bulbs. This Bathtub candle is perfect for my scenario and you can use it to make the environment perfect for a relaxing bath or for a romantic one, too. This candle is actually a normal candle that is only shaped like a bathtub.

The exterior of the candle, I mean the bathtub shape is made of hard paraffin wax and the inside is filled with soft wax that also has a thread inside. You will lit that thread with a match and it will burn, also burning the wax around. The design of this item is very interesting, as the candle looks like an old Victorian bathtub, having the back part a bit higher than the front part and resting gently on four animal legs. Apart from the nice design, the candle offers you five hours of continuous discrete lighting for just $13.

The NAP chair by Kasper Salto

Chairs are used to sit on but even the most comfortable chair can get really uncomfortable when you sit in it for a long time. And when you have to sit longer in the same position your body reacts and makes you move, thus adjusting and making you feel comfortable instead of aching for sitting still for too long. This is the idea behing The NAP chair by Kasper Salto. The designer, Kasper Salto, explains that the name of the chair – NAP is actually coming from the initials of the three key sitting positions; Normal, Active and Passive, which proves the fact that you move all the time you spend sitting in one chair.

The chair has nice curves which make it elegant and feminine and also add a plus of comfort to any of your sitting positions. The curved arm rests are included in the general and overall design of the chair and do not come as attachments. The legs are thin and stylish and the different colours available (Milk White, to Butter Yellow, Pepper Grey and Coffee Brown) make it pretty attractive to any person, be it young or old, modern or old-fashioned. The Danish designer did a great job with this chair and you can now have it for 440 EURO.

Spacious with vintage accents interior design apartment in Stockholm

This lovely interior is in a beautiful corner apartment situated on Eric Hills, a region of Stockholm. The apartment is spacious and airy and it features a very inviting and elegant interior décor. Moreover, the large windows allow panoramic views of Runeberg and Eriksbergsgatan. The apartment has been recently restored but most of the original elements have been preserved or recreated, such as the arched windows, the parquet flooring, the wall panels, the double doors or the cozy fireplaces.

Even though it still looks very similar to its original design, the apartment now also has a modern look because most of the changes during the renovation process have been made using modern materials. So it's rather an eclectic apartment because even though it features many original elements the materials used to create them are modern. Still, the styles don't clash and the result is very pleasing and even unique.

Most of the walls and ceilings in the apartment have been painted white. This, together with the large arched windows form a very bright and airy atmosphere. The apartment includes a beautiful entrance hall, two large bathrooms with sandstone from Bali, a spacious and inviting living room with fireplace and a practical kitchen. We’re presented here several articles related to some of the creations of Per Weiss. They were modern and minimalistic designs and usually included sofas and recliners. But the same designer shows us that the same creative mind can come up with more playful designs such as this lovely beanbag. Stylish Victorian residence decorated for Christmas

For those who have a job hat requires changing location very often it's hard to say where home is. It must be especially hard during Christmas. But when you think about it, home is where you find yourself during Christmas, where you can decorate and get ready to receive friends and spend time together. For June Newton, this year's home is in Turnbridge Wells in the English county of Kent.

This year she'll be spending Christmas with her family in this beautiful house. The residence has already been decorated for Christmas. This is one of her favorite parts. In fact, she always decorated for Christmas, regardless of the location. It has been a little more difficult in Asia and a lot more fun in Poland and Germany.

In England she changed not only the decorations, but the whole style of the residence. Even though the house was decorated with beautiful tones of green and lots of terra cotta, June wanted something lighter so she repainted the walls and filled the house with her favorite objects.

Creative penthouse loft by Jorge Varela

This stylish and modern penthouse apartment used to be an old attic. Thanks to the imagination of designed Jorge Varela, the attic got a beautiful transparent floor and was turned into a lovely home. The loft includes a large open space, a bright interior décor and also a beautiful terrace.

The living room, dining room and kitchen are all connected. This is basically a huge open space and the rooms are not separated by walls. This way visual communication is always possible. This area also includes a small studio. The rooms are unified by the materials and colors used throughout. It features solid oak flooring with a dark stained finish and white walls throughout the apartment.

The owner of this apartment didn't really like the way this place used to look so together with designer Jorge Varela he came up with a new plan, a new space, more suited to his lifestyle. The client had two main requests. He wanted all unnecessary walls to be removed and he also wanted to find a way to make this apartment lighter and brighter. The designer managed to achieve that by taking advantage of the large windows. And by using bright colors and materials. During the process, the attic was also turned into an open space that now includes the lounge area, the dining room, kitchen and an office space with access to the terrace.{found on micasarevista}

foster children and they were contacted.Charity regroups after hundreds of Christmas gifts stolen from Lake church

Burglars take $20,000 worth of presents intended for foster childrenCLERMONT — For volunteers of Lake/Sumter Families, a charity
dedicated to helping foster and adopted children, Saturday was a day of
shock and frustration."There were a lot of tears shed," said president Stephen Wolgamott.That's
because after the group spent weeks collecting toys and gifts in the
hopes of brightening Christmas for Lake and Sumter children, thieves
have set the effort back nearly to square one.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to Liberty Baptist Church early Saturday after an overnight break-in and burglary.Deputies
say burglars gained entry during the night by breaking a window of the
fellowship hall. Once inside, officials said, they stole roughly $20,000
in presents meant for children.

The gifts, which included children's bicycles, assorted
toys, gift cards and clothes, had been collected in a gift drive, the
result of weeks of work by Lake/Sumter Families.The charity had
put together individual wish lists for foster children — dubbed "angels"
— who were then assigned to individual donors. The donors went all-out,
Wolgamott said. "It was a no-holds-barred kind of giving," he said.
Liberty Baptist volunteered its fellowship hall as storage space.Only

about 10 to 15 percent of the gifts collected had already been
distributed to foster families, meaning the burglars made off with a
large majority of the charity's haul, Wolgamott said The theft
came just days before the charity's Christmas party — the last time the
group will see most of the foster families it serves before Christmas.
But
Lake/Sumter Families is determined to regroup. Wolgamott said three
donation events already have been scheduled for the next few days, and
the community is already responding. "We've already seen a lot of
support," Wolgamott said. One event will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m. at the Citrus Tower in Clermont, and others are planned all day Monday at AAA American Storage in Groveland and at First Baptist Church in Leesburg.The
Lake/Sumter Families Christmas party is scheduled for Monday, and the
charity says a re-do of its personalized "angels" drive probably isn't
possible in two days. Instead, the charity is asking for donations
of cash or gift cards for major retailers, so that individual families
can go out and shop for gifts for their foster kids before the holiday. After
a day of tears and prayer, Wolgamott said he and other volunteers are
ready to move on, and to continue their work to make this Christmas
merry for foster kids and families. To the thieves who tried to
steal that Christmas, he said only that the volunteers of Lake/Sumter
Families forgive them for what they did, and hope they get the help they

The 48-acre site, known as Legacy Park, was chosen for its easy access across North Texas and southern Oklahoma.
The facility features three above-ground floors plus a lower garden level, 72 single-patient room (12 ICU beds and 60 medical/surgical beds), and four operating room (plus shelled space for four more), full-service diagnostic and radiology services (including CT and MRI), an emergency care center, a lobby cafe, full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop, family resource center, and various patient and family lounges.”

This table top is wonderful and had been our dining room table for more than 10 years. It had been set atop 2 plaster columns. We no longer have the columns, just the glass top. Can easily be placed atop a smaller table to make for moor seating space. There is a small ship in one of the 4' sides, nothing major. Otherwise, perfect condition. This tabletop is VERY heavy and will require minimum of 2 people to carry. Easy pickup. Just email me with your availability.

Once the winter holidays are closer every corner of our house gets a special touch of them. Although we refer to window wreaths, decorative candles, miniature or big Christmas trees or other Christmas decorative items everything is touched by the magic spirit of these wonderful holidays. Sometimes the way we decorate our house reflects our mood, personality, preferences or even hobbies.

Those who love things that are simple but nice here is an idea of creating a DIY Miniature Christmas Tree which can add a certain holiday touch to their interior design. Before&After Salvage-Inspired Bathrooms Makeover

Some people like things as they are but some people won't stop until that particularly thing fully matches their personality and taste.All it takes is imagination and some time.Because this is a preponderant home make activity it doesn't cost very much either.We have an expample here of two bathrooms make by Kella MacPhee and Kate King.

They are part of that kind of people who got tired of the dark monochromatic neutrals and decided to make an original makeover.Kella's bath for example looked probably like other half a milion small bathrooms, now it looks modern stylish and with a laid back tropical island vibe.

Great colors and patterns are combined with dark wood touche, industrial metal lamps and pluber's pipe fixture.The vintage signs are amazing and perfectly integrated into a fresh modern design with playful notes, transforming this tiny bath into a little fun world.The second colorful, salvage-inspired bathrooms from Kate King is a great example of mixing entique elements with modern bright colors like this beautiful cherry red used to paint the door and the light fixture and the oceany turquise color from the old glass manson jars.

A few years ago sending Christmas greeting cards was one of the things that people loved to do. I was fascinated by the multitude of models and images that I could admire on these greeting cards. Sometimes I could not even decide to pick up some models. They were just beautiful and terribly attractive. Velcucine has always focused on client satisfaction. This is the way it's supposed to be but it's rarer that you might expect. Anyway, this is a new creation from the same company. It's a very stylish and also functional kitchen collection. It has been designed by Gabriele Centazzo.

The design is very simple. In fact, it's the same minimalism that we often see in contemporary creations. It's the traditional kitchen unit but simpler and more functional. It's also more stylish and colorful. Using traditional designs as a model, the creators of this unique piece managed to perfection a few aspects in order to improve the interaction between the user the kitchen.

This is the new back section from Velcucine. It's able of containing and concealing, when necessary, all the kitchen equipment including the dish drainer, weighing scales, small appliances, removable cooking receptacles, bottle-racks, power sockets, a monitor, a kitchen roll holder, the tap, hooks for utensils and even a cooker hood.

Modern “S” Shaped Radiators

Those of us who live in any corner of the world in which sun is not present and shines all the time at the same intensity and thereby temperatures drop a few degrees and reach a certain limit, are familiar with heating devices.This can be a simple stove, a fire place or more modern heaters.These nowaday heaters use hot water circulating through a sistem of pipes very close to each other.

This radiators are very often a non cohesive element in different interior settings.If is such an important part of our homes and usualy it comes in standard square forms painted all in white why not make it in various shapes and colors or combinations of shape and color? Some people thought of that and succeeded to create smooth and harmonious radiators.Available in multiple shapes and colors these radiators can not only blend perfectly into the desired plan, but it can be a decorative item by itself.I would love a big empty wall wearing only the curved shapes of side by side piping, painted in gray and black tones.

Fun and colorful room designed by Krista Salmon for her girl Lou

I’m sure you all remember your childhood. I personally have lots of nice memories from that period. Still, there is something that I wish I had back then: my own room. Well, it’s too late to wish for that now so let’s take a look at someone who has it and be happy for that kid. This is a very room that was designed by Krista Salmon of Kiki’s List for her little girl Lou.

This is Lou big girl room. It’s very beautiful and fun, even though the colors are not as vibrant and dynamic as I would have imagined. Still, this doesn’t make it less fun or charming. In fact, the colors have been very well chosen and they result in a very inviting and lovely décor. I really like the pastel tones of turquoise and red. The ceiling has been painted with red stripes and it has a very beautiful chandelier. The room are pale blue and the whole room is very bright and fresh. I also like the curtains. The little red ribbons are very cute and they go really good with the rest of the colors.

Lou is very lucky to have a mom that has such talent. But this is not everything it takes. You can also com up with a lovely design for your kid’s room. Just use your imagination and don’t forget to also involve the children in the decision-making process. It’s a family fun project and everyone can contribute.

The New Colorful MSN Office in Santa Fe,Mexico

Prodigy MSN was looking for a new office space and they decided on an area in Santa Fe, Mexico City, Mexico. They chose to collaborate with Space architects. The project’s architects were Juan Carlos Baumgartner LEED AP and Fabiola Troyo del Valle LEED AP and the design team was formed by Marcos Aguilar and Francisco Montoya. The office covers a surface of 800 square meters and it has been completed in august 2010.

The clients has few but very clear requests. They wanted an open and bright space (like the future of Prodigy MSN), a series of multi-purpose space and LEED certification for their new office. Of course, they got everything they wanted. The whole project is open and bright. The office is filled with natural daylight and the workstations are low and have translucent boards. A glass box has also been included in the project. It’s a more private area, also occupied by offices.

In order to solve the multi-purpose space problem, the architects opted for a versatile design. The office includes a sort of reception area where employees, client and visitors get together. There’s also a coffee bar there. This area is not physically separated by the work spaces in any way. Most of the meeting rooms are also located there. And the final request has also been solved. The project saves more than 20% of the water, saves 20% energy and complies with the standards of energy efficiency that LEED recommends.{found on archdaily}

Bright and stylish Swedish residence

This residence is a perfect example of equilibrium. It includes contrasting elements but in the end everything manages to look uniform and beautiful. The residence features an overall striking Swedish décor with lots of creative and casual details. There are some very interesting decorations in this residence. Some of them are funny while others are just elegant and chic.

One of my favorite ones has to be that giant mural over the TV unit representing a rhinoceros. It's one of the humorous decorations. Other are less striking but equally interesting, such as that lovely sleek lamp from the living room, the striped black and white rug from the same room and those creative giant flowers by the sliding glass doors.

I especially like how little striking details have been strategically placed all over the house. For example, the ceilings are simple and plain but the decorative moldings are definitely adding a little spark to this place.Also, every room has its own creative and colorful decoration that makes this home unique. Another interesting detail is the fact that there are partitions between rooms instead of doors.

It's an original residence, with a bright and creative interior design and lots of interesting details and decorations. Even though there are lots of Swedish elements in the design of this home, it's impossible to certainly say which style is predominant. It still works but has some white lines on the screen when turned on. Still

I come from a family that is in love with planes, parachutes and things that can give you wings and feel the touch of high sky. I remember how much I loved my first flight by plane. I was preparing myself to visit Sweden as an exchange of experience between Romanian and Swedish schools. It was a fantastic experience which had marked my whole existence and made me become a different person.

As I love all the flying devices the hot air balloons are also among them. Their lovely design and the experience that can offer you it must be fantastic. I have never had the chance to travel by them but who knows maybe one day I will succeed.

Meanwhile I dress up my Christmas tree with some wonderful DIY Hot Air Balloons Christmas Ornaments. Some small paper baskets that can be attached to the Christmas balls using some string are all the necessary materials for this lovely project. Avant-Garde Shine Store in Hong Kong

Shine is one of Hong Kong’s most renowned high and multi-brand fashion stores, known for bringing pioneering foreign brands to the trend conscious locals. Located in Causway Bay and designed by architect Nelson Chow, this impressive store is a true statement of beauty and style.

The owner had one demand and this was to create a design that would reinforce the company’s identity as an avant-garde and experimental fashion store. In order to do so the architect used a bold, contrasting black and white palette, interesting lighting features and unique merchandise display units. Inspired by the shape of a star, the shop has the ceiling covered with a high gloss white and coated the surrounding walls with all black.

Equipped with three display platforms and suspended mannequins, the entrance gallery acts as an extension of the window displays. The architect created interesting architectural highlights consisting of a tall asymmetrical room with a pivoted, angled ceiling, a suspended staircase and a series of white cables at the ceiling of the main space.

Shine is a contemporary and avant-garde fashion shop. Designed to be the perfect juxtaposition of bold and edgy, this stunning store is a reflection of the fashion retailer.

Easy DIY Vintage Paper Wreath

This time of the year reminds me a lot of my beautiful moments of childhood. I remember the time when I was with my brother and mother around the Christmas tree and try to dress it up with all sorts of sparkling decorations. Perhaps the most beautiful moments were when I was creating something on my own made of paper, cardboard or other materials and brought so much satisfaction and happiness at the end. These DIY projects were easy to be done and could fill our free time with something useful and funny.

The next DIY project is similar and you will discover the joy of creating original and beautiful things just using your hands and imagination. It is a lovely DIY Vintage Paper Wreath which you can hang everywhere you want. for this easy DIY project you will need some materials like: some sheet music or pages of an old song book, a glue stick or some masking tape, a cardboard circle, a ribbon, some hot glue, a medallion or decoration, some glitter glue and a ruffle.

First you need to do between 15 and 20 cones that you have to glue them on a cardboard circle. On the cardboard draw a belly button in the middle and cut a slit for the ribbon hanger. The creative Bertoia diamond chair

Today we decided to show you a very interesting chair called Bertoia. It was designed by Harry Bertoia from where it also gets the name. You might be surprised to find out that this chair was designed back in 1952. Still, it looks surprisingly modern. It has a very simple and even minimalistic design, just the type of design we expect to see in contemporary furniture.

The Bertoia diamond chair was a 1950 experiment that was created by bending metal rods and turning them into practical art. The chair has a very simple design and a diamond-shaped form. Harry Bertoia actually created a more complex collection that also includes this chic chair. The diamond chair is an innovative and eye-catching piece of furniture that is also extremely comfortable. Combining looks with comfort and functionality is not as easy as it sounds.

The Bertoia diamond chair is currently manufactured in the USA by Knoll. It has a delicate appearance but, in the same time it’s also strong and durable. It would be fair to say that this chair resembles a sculpture. It’s a classic but modern piece of furniture that measures 33.5″ w | 28.25″ d | 30″ h | seat: 16.5″ h. In another one of our articles we’re presented you the Chesterfield Sofa Bed, an elegant and modern piece of furniture designed by Per Weiss. Now we’re back with another one of this designer’s creations. It’s also a sofa bed and it has some similar features to the Chesterfield design but it’s clearly different and unique.

This is the Clubber recliner sofa bed. It was designed by Per Weiss in 2009 so it has been created previously to the other model presented. It features a classic design with a contemporary look. It’s a minimalist piece of furniture with very soft and comfortable upholstery. It also features a light and sophisticated leg construction. It has a metal frame, very light and sleek but also very strong and durable. Also, optional wooden armrests are available.

Kate Thornley-Hall’s century-old log ski cabin in Collingwood, Ont

Cabins are very charming, especially during the winter season. They’re not as luxurious as a hotel or a large mansion, but there’s something special about them that makes them unique. It’s not uncommon for people to want to leave the comfort and warmth of their apartment or house and to go spend the holidays in a small cabin.

Even though the space is limited, cabins are very inviting. This is a very lovely cabin that was designed by Kate Thornley-Hall. It’s a sort of rural cottage and it has already been decorated for the holidays. There’s a lovely wreath on the door as a sing that guests are welcomed for the holidays. When seen from the street, the first impression about this cute cabin is very good. I’m sure that the interior further enhances this impression. It seems to be a very inviting and cozy little cottage. I imagine it might also be a cozy fireplace inside.

The cabin has a fresh and modern look, even though it’s hard to tell since cabins usually look all the same. Still, this one distinguishes itself by the new cedar dormer that make the exterior seem very appealing. It also has lovely shutters that have been painted robin’s egg blue. Fresh Southport home decorated by Lynn Morgan

This beautiful place is a lovely home located in Southport, CT. It features a very fresh and airy interior and it seems like a very inviting home. The house was designed by Lynn Morgan and these beautiful photographs that you here have been taken by Laura Moss. I particularly like this home because it’s so inviting, fresh and airy and the atmosphere inside seems to be very casual but also very elegant at the same time.

The house has very large windows and this is a big factor when appreciating the interior. The almost floor-to-ceiling windows let lots of natural light get inside and this way the décor seems even more airy and open. Another important element is the white color that has been chosen for most of the walls. The shite walls and white ceilings also create the impression of large and airy spaces even when it’s not the case. In one corner of the living room there’s a lovely breakfast area. It sits right next to the windows and it includes a beautiful and very cozy bench, a table and some chairs.

I also like the furniture from this house. It’s so casual and yet so delicate and elegant. The colors also play an important role in this case. The designer used mostly pastel colors and several tones of blue and turquoise. I particularly like the shades of blue from some of the walls. They remind of those puffy clouds we sometimes see on the sky. Also, notice all the floral patterns from the chairs and some of the decorations such as the pillows from the living room sofa. Also, fresh flowers have been strategically placed all over the place.

I work during the day, so they will have to be put out in the morning and left to the elements, we don't have a covered area to protect them. Also, please don't respond if you don't intend to pick them up. I had to trash several good boxes the last time I posted because of no shows.
